CaringBridge Celebrates 23 Years in June with Giving Campaign

Eagan, Minn. – (June 16, 2020) – CaringBridge is kicking off the summer with a special campaign where donations made to the organization will have double the impact. Beginning on Tuesday, June 16, and running through Wednesday, June 24, the campaign offers two opportunities for donations to be matched. Board member and CaringBridge user, Pete Segar, along with his wife Kim, have made a pledge to match all donations up to $10,000 on June 16 and 17, and up to $15,000 on June 23 and 24.

Donations made to CaringBridge provide strength to families in need of a safe, protected, ad-free space to share their stories. These donations allow more than 300,000 people facing a health journey every day the ability to connect with family and friends anytime. Receiving support from family and friends is one of the most important aspects of any health journey and healing process, and generous donations made to CaringBridge allow this essential support to continue.

The Segars’ personal connection with CaringBridge began years ago when they created a site to share information regarding Pete’s cancer diagnosis, treatments and remission with their family and friends. Today, Pete is cancer-free, and is grateful for every day he gets to spend with his grandson.

During this time of uncertainty as the world copes with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) global pandemic, it has become more important than ever for people to stay connected. Over the past few months, Pete and Kim have heard from COVID-19 patients whose relatives are unable to visit them and have used CaringBridge to stay in touch with their loved ones. CaringBridge works to ensure that nobody goes through a health journey alone – no matter how challenging the situation is – while allowing both patients and family caregivers to stay connected and coordinate care even when they are physically apart.

“Navigating a health journey can feel like a maze for many people. Our organization’s goal is to provide a safe place for people going through a health journey to receive love and support. We are incredibly grateful to all of our donors who help make this goal a reality,” said Liwanag Ojala, CaringBridge CEO. “A donation to CaringBridge directly benefits our mission of building bridges of care and communication and ensures that the thousands of people going through difficult times receive the support they deserve and need.”

CaringBridge offers free personal websites allowing communities to rally around people at any stage of their health journey. The platform gives patients and caregivers a free, private, and secure opportunity to update friends and family, ask for help and get support and encouragement. With support from donors through match programs, CaringBridge is able to continue delivering the resources people need during their own or their loved one’s path to healing.
