CaringBridge Board of Directors to Double Donations up to $100,000 on Giving Tuesday

Eagan, Minn. – (Nov. 22, 2021) – CaringBridge is kicking off a month-long holiday giving campaign thanks to a generous gift from the CaringBridge Board of Directors. The CaringBridge Board of Directors will be matching donations made on November 30, Giving Tuesday, up to $100,000. Along with the gracious matching gift, the launch of the campaign will also include a virtual gathering.

The free virtual gathering is open to all on Tuesday, November 30 from 7-7:30 PM CST. The night of gratitude and story sharing will feature co-hosts Tia Newcomer, CEO of CaringBridge and Emmy award- winning journalist Cathy Wurzer with special guest Alexandra Drane, CEO of ARCHANGELS.

The virtual gathering will also feature the life of the Erickson family who is finding community through CaringBridge after giving birth to conjoined twins Reese and Remi in November of 2019. While Remi was healthy and able to go home after the separation, Reese struggled with health issues and spent 366 days at Children’s Minnesota. Parents Rob and Kate juggled home and hospital life, three kids, and a global pandemic. When Reese was able to go home, they became 24/7 caregivers.

“CaringBridge definitely helps me put myself out there,” said Kate. “Everybody is so kind and caring and supportive with everything I put on there. And, you know, they check in on me, too, when really I’m writing about Remi and Reese. It’s nice to know that they see that our whole family’s going through a lot, too.”

Caring for the Caregiver

Caregivers like Kate and Rob Erickson are part of the 43% of Americans who provide unpaid care to a loved one. Family caregiving, while a true labor of love, can be an endless job made even more stressful during this pandemic. Add in the holiday season and it can be a lonely time for the person going through the health journey and the caregiver that’s by their side.

CaringBridge is a simple tool to help caregivers connect with their community. It is the most efficient way to update everyone all at once about a health journey, as well as a place to ask for, and receive, the support they need.

It’s a free tool, supported by donors that understand the need to provide a vital healing resource for people around the world. A donation to CaringBridge means that 300,000 people a day can connect with family and friends, sharing encouragement and important updates easily through the platform. Each donation supports the operation of running thousands of ad-free, secure, privacy-protected sites, which help millions of people get the help and social support they need.

Holiday Appeal Specifics

The annual giving campaign will run through December 31, 2021. Throughout the giving campaign, donors will have the chance to have their donations matched during four additional opportunities taking place on the following days: December 7-8, 14-15, 21-22, and 30-31.
