Primary Objective of Position

As the CaringBridge Major Gifts Officer you will design, develop and implement our major gift program. You’ll be responsible for managing and cultivating relationships with existing major gift prospects, as well as identifying and cultivating new prospects within our donor pipeline. You’ll also be responsible for managing and advising our foundation pipeline.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Helps our donors accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions through a relationship with CaringBridge.
  • Secures major gifts at the $10,000 to $100,000 level.
  • Manages and updates data within Salesforce to track and cultivate donors and prospects.
  • Manages existing portfolio of 25-50 donors and prospects.
  • Works within the development department to align efforts and set goals on an annual, quarterly and weekly basis.
  • Creates, implements and advises on moves management plans.
  • Makes direct, face-to-face solicitations, and assists the board and senior leadership with their solicitation (e.g. provide portfolio development support, strategic counsel, and helps with donor communications).
  • Acknowledges major donors through public and private recognition.
  • Tracks and reports progress using specific metrics.
  • Keeps manager informed of important developments, potential problems, and related information necessary for effective management.

Experience & Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of nonprofit fundraising experience and an ability to secure major gifts and meet objectives.
  • Comfortable using a donor database, prospect research and other wealth screening tools to aid in your moves management process.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies.
  • Honed writing and speaking skills and can use them to compel individuals to action.
  • Creative thought process, able to deal with ambiguity and uncertainties.
  • Organized, prepared, detail-oriented and able to follow through on promises.
  • Strong collaboration and teambuilding skills – interested in mentoring staff to ensure that the greater goal is met.
  • Light travel (10-25%) is expected.
