Primary Objective of Position

The Director of IT, Delivery is responsible for leading and directing the delivery function within the IT department. This position is an active partner with the cross functional management team in driving strategic and operational plans, and requires forward-looking thinking and the ability to drive the organization’s business, technology and operational initiatives.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages staff for IT Development. Establishes objectives, goals, performance requirements, clarifies responsibilities of those supervised, conducts performance appraisals and development plans for individual employee improvement.
  • Manages and allocates development resources across many projects and initiatives.
  • Develops and implements comprehensive technology strategies for mobile and web software applications and infrastructure to meet business needs. Communicates technology strategy across the organization.
  • Be a strategic business partner who is familiar with market and organizational dynamics, and capable of turning ideas into reality directly and through influence.
  • Partners with business owners and subject matter experts to identify and deliver technology solutions for key business objectives. Collaborates with business owners and subject matter experts to identify and prioritize key business objectives relating to CaringBridge applications and technology.
  • Architects, defines, develops and assists in overseeing software engineering effort on full range of applications (mobile, web and business intelligence) based on business needs and requirements.
  • Supports the analysis of system specifications and translate system requirements into task specifications.
  • Provide oversight to software module designs and components to improve quality and reuse.
  • Ensure the SDLC process and practices are properly followed and make adjustment as needed to meet the changing needs of CaringBridge.
  • Establishes and sustains interactive relationships with external vendors and contacts to result in favorable networks to support the current and future goals of the organization and to benchmark practices/results to maximize organizational effectiveness.
  • Remain abreast of technology developments and applying new technologies/business models, and proactively align the technology strategies/goals with strategic business goals.
  • Keeps manager informed of important developments, potential problems, and related information necessary for effective management. Coordinates/communicates plans and activities with others, as appropriate to ensure a coordinated work effort and team approach.
  • Performs related work as apparent or assigned.

Experience & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science, technology, or related field required.

  • Minimum 10 years of related work experience, including 3 - 5 years of management experience and leading technology teams with progressively increasing responsibility.
  • A proven track record of using technology to capitalize on business opportunities and deliver projects on time and on budget consistently.
  • 3+ years of experience leading the technology organization in a SaaS environment.
  • Strong leadership, partnership, collaboration and teambuilding skills.
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies (SDLC and Agile)
  • Strong web application software engineering experience with PHP, HTML5, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Strong mobile application software engineering experience with iOS, Android or Blackberry platforms.
  • Strong self-starter with a record of success.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to cope with the rapid pace and constant change associated with the industry.
  • Ability to successfully manage numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with personnel and outside contacts.
