Primary Objective of Position

To provide strategic and tactical guidance for the Quality Assurance area within CaringBridge ensuring that the CaringBridge products, including web, mobile and social networking, meet the quality and functional expectations of our customers.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides necessary definition, development and deployment of the Quality Assurance (QA) strategies, processes and metrics, addressing all phases of the software development life cycle.

  • Ensures the delivery of quality assurance testing to meet business and user goals and objectives.

  • Participates in agile ceremonies and promotes software engineering best practices.

  • Manages the viability, functionality and effectiveness of the QA environment (hardware platforms and software tools) by utilizing test automation and regressions.

  • Creates and manages the planning and execution of release/deployment testing efforts, including all associated personnel and environment resources required to meet committed delivery dates.

  • Designs, deploys, and maintains automated testing scripts based on requirements.

  • Writes product release test lists (requirements), test cases and test scripts based upon specification documents and business user interactions.

  • Anticipates product release problems and take corrective action, escalating as needed, to resolve and achieve commitments.

  • Conducts and/or directs test planning, test execution, defect (bug) tracking and reporting, and follow-up and issue resolution.

  • Surveys markets for industry and technology trends and opportunities that may support CaringBridge’s goals and objectives.

  • Keeps management informed of important developments, risk areas, potential problems, and related information necessary for decision making.

  • Makes formal and informal technical presentations.

  • Performs related work as apparent or assigned.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Quality Assurance or position of similar responsibilities.
  • Good understanding of web-based and mobile systems architecture.
  • Experience working within an agile environment.
  • Experience with test automation tools.
  • Experience with development, build, and deployment tooling (e.g. Git).
  • Familiarity with responsive web design and related development techniques.
  • Familiarity with major web/mobile browsers.
  • Familiarity with Jenkins and CMS (e.g. WordPress) a plus.
  • Strong self-starter with a record of success.
  • Strong collaboration and teambuilding skills.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Excellent understanding of the diverse needs of internet users.
  • Ability to cope with the rapid pace and constant change associated with the industry.
  • Ability to successfully manage numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with personnel and outside contacts.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft applications.
