Larry Riordan Hospitalization Webpage

Welcome to the Larry Riordan hospitalization webpage. It has been provided to keep people updated on Larry's condition since his hospitalization at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, on August 3, 2004.

Larry is home in Florida, after 148 days of hospitalization at St. Mary's Hospital/Mayo Clinic, in Rochester, Minnesota, and eleven weeks of follow-up outpatient rehabilitation.

He was initially discharged on December 24, 2004, after 144 days in the hospital (78 on ICU, 28 on 5 Francis, 5 on Rehab, another 8 on ICU, 10 on 5 Mary Brigh, and a final 10 on Rehab). He was briefly readmitted to St. Mary's Hospital (Joseph 3B) for an inpatient procedure on January 18, 2005, and again discharged on January 20, 2005, and readmitted from March 8 through March 10, 2005 (5 Domitilla).

This is an ominous anniversary.

Exactly two years ago tonight, Larry underwent his lengthy Whipple surgery at Mayo Clinic, coming out about now (11 p.m. Central Time).

Oddly enough, today we are once again at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, with very mixed emotions, and tomorrow Larry undergoes minor outpatient surgery.

We've had an unusual day, with some pensive moments, and some joyful ones. Tonight we ate out under the stars at City Cafe and languished in the beautiful summer weather.

We're happy to have made it through this, and many other, days.
