Hoping this finds you all doing well. So sorry, Sprite who runs Smile Quilts has been out of commission for a while, so the site has been in limbo for months. Unsure whats going to happen with it, but we are thinking of you and wishing you all the best.

Just wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas. I am sure Brandon and Justin are growing into little men so quickly. It seems like time goes by so quickly lately. Dawn and Joe, my Christmas wish for you is that someday, that nightmare of a Christmas Eve I know you remember every year will fade a little from your memories and be replaced by good memories of watching your boys enjoying the magic of the holidays. Hope you all have a Health, Happy Holidays. Give Justin a big hug from me.
Love,
Sarah

As I look at the temperature here in Green Bay, I am thinking that Cozumel sounds pretty darn good. Have a great time and don't forget to take a few family pictures. I know it is hard to get everyone together, but they will be priceless! Will be thinking about you frolicking on the beach while we will probably be in a warm streak of double digits!!! It's definitely Wisconsin, not Mexico!!! Enjoy yourselves...you deserve that and much more!

Hi Dawn & Justin and family,
What wonderful news that you received regarding Justin's lastest test. We keep checking in "our kids" each week to see what progress everyone is making. So glad that things are continuing to go well with you. Dawn - I live in those same fears - not knowing is the hardest part of it all. I want to be able to enjoy my daughter for a lot longer. Please know that you are not alone in your fears and that we are there with you - we pray everyday for all "our kids" that God will continue to bless them and keep them healthy. We wish for your entire family - a very Happy Thanksgiving. Diane

First of all, I want to say I am glad Justin is doing so well and my prayers are still with him and your family. Secondly, I want to say...GO KYLE! I admire Kyle's strength and his spirit. With a spirit like that, he can beat this thing hands down. Just want to say that we will be praying for Kyle and his family also.

It sounds like your family has been on a different kind of roller coaster, with all the ups and downs of health and accidents that when we all encounter seem like horrible days, but not to me anymore. For you yes, and you sure didn't them. They say God doesn't give us more than we can handle, but sometimes, I wonder. But he has created children like yours, Emma, Devin and all the other children I have gotten to know through Rae and Emma with such a spirit that amazes me. The family's strength through the good times and the bad of the roller coaster that you have been on. I hope that you have a wonderful and uneventful Xmas and a healthy and happy new year. God bless.

Thank you for updating your website. I am so relieved that Justin is doing better. I dont know if you remember me but I'm Heather Hoffman I used to be a nursing assistant at UW Hospital. Now I am an RN working with heme/onc patients at Duke University in North Carolina. I carry a picture of Justin (from the website) and some of my friends from UW. We have not had any new Neuroblastoma dx. But we have had some ALL and rhabdomyosarcoma dx that are about justin's age. I have showed them Justin's picture and it just brings smiles to these kids faces. Justin is an inspiration down here. I wish the best for Justin and his family.

Talked with Kathy this past weekend and she told me the latest. Glad you updated the website. It was difficult to read what happened and can only imagine what all of you went through that day. It's great that Justin has stabilized again and hopefully everything will continue to move forward. I hope that the rest of you have stabilized as well.

I hope that you are able to guide Justin through these bad times; continue on through treatment and get to the good times at the end of the path. It's there!

It so nice to have such kind thoughts about Emma. I was so looking forward to seeing her out of the hosiptal the next time she came to Madison. I'm glad that Justin's treatment is going well. I kept tabs of all the families that Rae and Emma got to know during her journey. I know every time I visit, I smile when I see empty rooms. I wish that they all would be empty, that means no one has to face what you and the other families have faced. You are in my prayers. God Bless

Dawn, Justin, Joe and Brandon,
We are happy to hear that you are home now. When I saw and spoke to you at the hospital the other week. I guess I didn't really understand or just wasn't thinking when you said that Justin crashed. I'm sorry, and Wow! It is amazing the strength that we find, to not dwell on something (the bad), joke about it and continue to live another day as it is. We are a special breed, we Cancer Parents. Isn't it also amazing how being home is such therapy in itself. Each day will bring Justin strength. You and your family continue to be in our daily thoughts and prayers. May your next journey of radiation go smoothly. Talk to you soon. Love and God Bless.

I admire the strength of the families, remaining strong during a chaotic time. I just come and visit, I get to leave after a couple of hours at the most. You are there for 24 7, all manage to keep the faith. May God blessing be with you and your family.

I'm down on my knees again tonight
I'm hoping this prayer will turn out right
See there is a boy that needs your help
I've done all that I can do myself
His mother is tired, I'm sure You can understand
Each night as she sleeps, she goes in to hold his hand

And she tries not to cry as the tears fill her eyes

Can You hear me? Am I getting through tonight?
Can You see him? Can you make him feel alright?
If You can hear me, let me take his place somehow.
See he's not just anyone-HE'S MY SON

Sometimes late at night I watch him sleep
I dream of the boy he'd like to be
I try to be stong and see him through
But God who he needs right now is YOU
Let him grow old, and live life without this fear
What would I be, living without him near

He's so tired and scared, let him know that You're there

Can You hear me? Am I getting through tonight?
Can You see him? Can You make him feel alright?
If You can hear me, let me take his place some how.
See he's not just anyone, HE'S MY SON!

Can You hear me?
Can You see him?
Please don't leave him-......he's my son.

Hi Dawn, Joe, Brandon, and of course Justin
Uh, yeah it's Ray here. And I didn't realize I was such a "bother" as you stated in your 7/28/02 writing!! Well Tina and I are sittin' here smiling and oh yes we finally got ON LINE! ANd What a beautiful web site you's have here. We had a nice stay yesterday, and we had to cut out early(no sequence game!). But we talked about things that needed to be talked about. The kids wanted to go so bad. They will soon enough. But Justin looked SO GOOD, just being a little person. I would have liked to see him today with the playdough and beach ball! Anyway I have a Bible Scipture for YOU, It's Romans 8:25. And in case your Bible is just out of arm's reach, I'll write out the verse for you. It says, now it's talking about "hope", It says:"But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it." In other words we're patently waiting for that thing we're hoping for that isn't there yet. :-) We are praying for an explosion of white blood cells(in moderation of course) In JESUS NAME! And cousins Kyle and Kim are in our Prayers. We'll see you around, clown.

Dawn, your words are so true. Even though Emma is almost done with treatment and she is doing so well, the worry never goes away. The risk of recurrence is always there and yes, it could happen to anyone, but the odds are so different. I think I will always be paranoid about a temp of only 99 or a bruised leg or hearing “I don’t feel good moma.” My heart wrenches with pain with just the thought. God’s love will bring you strength and so will the love from your family, especially Justin. Never doubt that you haven’t become a better mom as well as everything else because you have. Your honesty, wisdom and positive perspective are inspiring.

Hi Dawn, It was good to see you at the hospital the other day and catch up on our boys progress. It's amazing what strength we find during all of this. Justin,
I am so excited I can hardly stand it. I just met Emma and now I am meeting you--another Packer fan.
My name is Jerri and we are avid Packer fans and have been since the Ice Bowl!! We are from Sioux Falls SD and come to games at Lambeau Field every year. We will be at the Oct 5 game with the Seahawks. We have more Packer parafanalia than the Packer Party Stores, I think. We even have Packer wallpaper border in the family room downstairs!!
How are you little buddy? Your pictures are so nice and you have a beautiful family.
My prayer is that you have finally gotten rid of that darned old diarrhea.
I read every journal that your great Mommy has written on your site and they are very inspiring to me. You have suffered a lot, honey, but Jesus loves you very much and He will heal you of this dreaded disease, but of course, it will be in His time. I pray that you have a bunch of Christian caregivers to help you get well, too.
Feeling weak? Remember, God strengthens!
2 Corinthians 12:10 "For when I am weak, then I am strong."
Love from your new SD Packer Fan penpal.

Justin -- Grandpa Erickson and Gwen are so happy to read your latest report from the hospital. Looks like you are doing a great job of getting well. We hope to see you and Brandon before too long now, as we will be leaving Texas and coming to Wisconsin this month of April. The grass and trees are all green down here and we have pretty flowers out too. Before long it will be that way in Wisconsin too.
Keep getting better. We love you. Hugs and kisses --Grandpa Erickson and Gwen.

We're doing better here, must have been in the weather for the kids to give us another experience, just coming off a week of house arrest but the counts are up so we can go out a bit and have visitors. Kyle only could get one of this week's chemo so Monday we'll be in for a check to see if the other can be given and everyday after that until his counts are high enough. It's amazing how life can change so quickly. It makes the trivial things seem so far away, all the sleepless nights when Justin was a baby, waiting for him to take his first step, his first words, who would have ever thought one day a healthy two year old would end up with cancer? Especially in this family, but it is with this family that Justin has a better chance with all the love and payers of a close knit family. We are all very concerned and pray alot. There is only one thing we all wish for and that is of course Justin to be well and everyone is home back to life as it once was. We love you, keep your spirits up and give lots of hugs to both Brandon and Justin and of course each other. The four J's
