My Story

Tiara was born a normal healthy child. She was a happy baby. She had chronic ear infections including 6 sets of tubes before age 6. She was very friendly and such a people lover. She loved preschool and then kindergarten. Besides ear infections she was healthy and normal.

In December of 2002 she started dropping weight like crazy but I just thought she was going through a growing time. January she was drinking water like no tomorrow and going potty all the time and started changing from a sweet little angel to something with attitude.

January 21st, 2003, I took Tiara to the doctor thinking she had a urine infection and after the blood work came back we were whisked away to the hospital for a 7 day stay after being diagnosed with Diabetes. She was borderline comatose when we entered the hospital. She was in ICU for 2 days until they finally got her blood sugars under some kind of control. Tiara took charge after that with her Diabetes. She checks her own blood at least 5 times daily and does her own shots, at least 5 a day. To this day we still have not been able to get the diabetes totally under control. She is a very high runner.

Summer of 2004 she woke one morning and the left side of her was temporarily paralyzed so off to the hospital and 2 days later she was diagnosed with Todd's Paralysis. There is no cure or even medication for this and it can happen at a moment's notice. She may not ever recover from it. This is the scariest diagnosis to me.

August 2004, Tiara started having seizures with normal to high blood sugar levels, which means they were not low blood sugar level ones and so when she had her first Grand Mal seizure we were whisked again to the hospital and after 1 semi reg EEG and 1 normal EEG she was diagnosed with Epilepsy. She has been on 5 medications so far and not one has seemed to do the trick. She is currently on Topamax.

Tiara went from a happy girl with lots of friends to a very shy quiet no friends girl. She does a lot of things in the home for fear of seizures. She struggles everyday because she just wants to be normal. She does well in school. For the past 2 winters she has spent a lot of days in the hospital for flu or colds or seizures but we have been very blessed that she has not been to one yet this winter.

Tiara is so brave and strong and I only wish I had half her braveness. She is a very sweet girl and she has been through so much in the past 2 years.

Wow I think this takes the record on longest time for update??? So sorry to everybody...

Tiara recently started online schooling and I am very pleased that it is going so well so far!!! We had to pull her from high school for a few reasons number one reason was she wasn't passing any of her classes because of all the time she missed from her diabetes and it got way to overwhelming trying to catch up. She is alot happier now.

Sickness wise she has had a couple of cold bugz and flu bug but no hospital stays in a year YEAH!!!!! She has been running very high blood sugars but since she is home we have been on top of it so she doesn't get keytones...

We recently went to a starlight event at the Great Wolf Lodge. We all had a blast it is a indoor water park and star light help a love day dance too. We had a wonderful time and miss peanut girl cried when she had to get out of the water. She is following her sisters foot steps when it comes to a love of water. Tiara had a great time at the dance too. She was able to bring a friend and so was RayLee so they all took Peanut girl down slides and into the big wave pool.We wouldn't have ever been able to afford to stay there even one night at reg. price. We were pleased to hear that we could get a HUGE discount because we are a starlight family. I know we well be going back next year for the starlight dance weekend water park play... YEAH!!!

We are counting the days until spring and summer arrive so we can start camping again.. We were able to get a newer trailer last Oct. And it has been seating in our yard waiting to go camping!! We were able to load it up with new dishes and pots and pans and second hand clothes for all of us we even scored on a ramp thing for my scooter. It attaches to the back of the trailer perfectly. Last summer I didn't even have a scooter which made it hard for me to go on hikes and such with the family because of my RSD in my feet and ankles. This summer well be awesome because I well be able to catch up with them on hikes and so on.

Tiara is doing very well with schooling and youth group at church and we take peanut girl (shawna-Lynne baby sister) swimming 3 times a week and we go to parks on nice days and library on rainy cold days.

Back in Nov. Shawn and I were able (thanks to his dad) take a trip of a life time. We spent 14 days in 5 different countries. We took a cruise thru the holy lands. We were on a cruise ship for most of the 14 days. We went on the Meditrainian Sea (sorry about spelling)We went to Eygupt, Greece, Isrial, Turkey, and a couple of other places. It was so awesome everything was perfect and the memories we have are unbelievable!!!!!My mom stayed at our house with the girls and they all did very well!! Shawn's boys actually don't leave with us anymore. Jesse leaves with his mom's parents in Tacoma and Teddy moved to Eastern Washington with his Bio Mom. I miss Teddy so much. He is my boy and I wish he was still here with us. Him and Shawna were very close and when he left she took it pretty hard and at her age she didn't understand she would get to see him during summer until I put it on the calender and started counting down...lol Long time till summer....
Anyways back to the trip we had perfect weather and stayed in a 5 star hotel in Greece and Jeruslim (again sorry with spelling)
We are getting really tired of this never ending winter??? We had a snow storm a few days ago and now starting tomorrow night a big wind and rain and yes even snow is coming our way!!!

Health wise we are all doing well knock on wood!!! Shawn has not been to the hospital for his lungs since last winter. That was our goal this winter and it has been working out good so far. He has caught a few colds and chest infections but not bad enough to go stay at the hospital so we were and are very pleased.

I better get off here and finsh cleaning the kitchen from dinner so I can go to bed and snuggle with my awesome hubby.

HUGZ AND BLESSINGS TO ALL......
TAMMI (MOMMY TO TIARA MARIE)
