Journal
Friday, May 18, 2007 7:21 PM CDT We just returned from Children's Hospital here in Seattle. Sierra's scans (CT and MRI) were clear and her blood work was fine. We are now officially 3 years off treatment, so they said come back in a year!!!!
Of course, we will see the doctors at Camp Goodtimes in August, as well as at several fundraisers for Children's during the year.
Sierra will walk in the Relay for Life Survivor lap tomorrow at Lynwood...the Youth Group at her church has walked in it the last several years and have raised thousands of dollars to help fight cancer. I am amazed at how in touch these teenagers are with what really matters.
We thank each and everyone of you for your loving support, prayers, kind thoughts, meals, babysitting, simply everything you have done during the first few weeks of diagnosis through now. It is incredible. We only hope in some small way, we can help other families fight the big fight... cancer...until it has gone the way of smallpox.
We also think of each and every family that is battling right now. If you read this, please reach out in your community, find a way to help....they won't tell you, but you can figure it out. A kind word, a call, a special treat to a movie, to a game, can make all the difference in the world to families who are not as fortunate to have the support we have had. I think often of the young boy we saw at Children's when we were first diagnosed, whose family was dealing with cultural and language barriers, but had the same fear in their eyes as we saw in ourselves. And whose son was in as just as much pain and just as young, innocent and frightened as our daughter. Please, you can make a difference.
Thank you again for all your help and support. We wish you all the best and thank you! Sierra is kicking cancer's butt~!
