Sounds a lot like a doctor Dominick saw(Dr.Damron) for his knees. So happy that he has no cancer. Do you think that we will ever get a point where we dont worry that the cancer has returned???? Happy Thanksgiving...

This is an odd way to sign the guestbook?? I know, it's the older version. Anyways, that Doc sounds like a real jerk..."I mean winner" in the most sarcastic way. I'm sorry you had to be put thru all that patronizing and condescension. Typical of some of them I guess. Well, I will pray that Owen remains as strong and heroic as ever. He is one amazing boy and inspiration to us all going through this hell.

Wow its been so long since I've looked at caringbridge. Sorry about your grandmother. I was wondering who had passed. I saw on Jacqui's FB someone wasn't doing well. I did meet his mom a few times and I believe if its Andrew he shared a room with Brennan once.

On a happier not I'm glad to hear Owen is doing well. Brennan is too. 9 more mths of treatments. WOOHOOOO. I hate sometime to be so happy about it when I hear bad news about others tho. I'm praying for them.

THIS DAY'S GREATEST GIFTS
We can't change the past…
But we can gather up
It's lessons and move on,
Stronger and wiser.
We can't control the future…
But we can send our dreams
Ahead of us
To help prepare the way.
We can live each moment…
Heart and soul,
And cherish this day's
Greatest gift…
The gift of now.
May peace with the past
And faith in the future,
Gently guide you through each
Precious moment of Today.

The Gift

The priceless gift of life is love,
For with the help of God above
Love can change the human race
And make this world a better place-
For love dissolves all hate and fear
And makes our vision bright and clear
So we can see and rise above
Our pettiness on wings of love.

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Angel_Wings

Thank You, God, for everything ...
The big things and the small,
For "every good gift comes from God" ...
The Giver of them all.

And all too often we accept
Without any thanks or praise,
The gifts You send as blessings
Each day in many ways.

And so at this Thanksgiving time,
We offer up a prayer;
To thank You, God, for giving us
A lot more than our share.

First, thank You for the little things
That often come our way;
The things we take for granted
And don't mention when we pray.

The unexpected courtesy,
The thoughtful, kindly deed,
A hand reached out to help us ...
In the time of sudden need.

Oh, make us more award, dear God,
Of little daily graces,
That come to us with "sweet surprise,"
From never-dreamed-of places.

Then, thank You for the "miracles"
We are much too blind to see,
And give us new awareness
Of our many gifts from Thee.

And help us to remember
That the "key" to "life" and "living,"
Is to make each prayer a "prayer of thanks,"
And every day THANKSGIVING.

~ Helen Steiner Rice ~

Why Pray? James 5:16 provides a worthwhile answer. “The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results.” Why pray? God says it makes quite an impact!

Hey guys

Sorry to hear that Owen has pneumonia. I hate hearing that word. Thats how my mother ended up getting a lung transplant 4yrs ago. Pneumonia ate her lung like cancer. Your boss is awesome because I bet that co-worker was definitely at lose for words after that. I can't believe how stupid people are.

The weather is going to be great so get out and enjoy this weekend. Tell Owen our x-box died again. Its the 3rd time and now we are fighting to get it replaced but nobody wants to do that. I've heard after 3 attempts to get something fixed someone is supposed to replace it. Wish us luck.

Angie--Hugs to you and Owen. I so understand all the crazy places one's mind can go. When we had fevers here in February, Fergus' lasted 6 days to Norah's 2. Guess that was just the older kid/second one infected theory being proven out. So hoping this virus moves on fast so you and Owen can both relax. I imagine his panic can make it so much harder to stay calm yourself. Here's to no more fevers and no more pain!

Hi Angie

I know this must be driving you crazy because I was getting choked up reading it. How is he feeling today? I know everyone always saids to think positive and we do. BUT we are always trying to think one step ahead. I don't think your crazy or over worrying because thats what we do. We do all the worrying and make the kids feel better. I believe it's just an infection like they said but I also think having the blood work is just as important. You think why couldn't they do bloodwork tomorrow but if there were something abnormal we would want that done yesterday. I just think that you were worrying so much that you were afraid of finding out the results. Very understandable. I find comfort in cleaning also when I'm worried.

On another note Brennan's WBC was low so they stopped his 6MP yesterday. WBC 0.5 So we have to do bloodwork again on Friday. Today he came home from school early from throwing up. I don't know if it's because they stopped the meds as why he got sick or if he's coming down with something. Naturally like you I went into worry mode. Diane assured me that this happens all the time and is not uncommon. She mention something about bone marrow and don't remember what. Now I think he has Leukemia what the heck. Is the meds not working or what? I have no idea. I can't wait for his spinal on the Nov 11. So I can have piece of mind. Although he feels and looks good. Positive Positive.

Anyways the picture of the boys at Disney is awesome. I showed Brennan. Guess what? We have the same picture with my kids in the same spot. How funny? Actually we have a few of the same kind of pictures. So I see you went this month. I bet it was a blast. I asked Brennan where he wants to go to this year and he really likes Camp Sunshine. My husbands uncle is renting a house in Key West and wants my husbands whole family to go down for the week. We just need to pay for our plane tickets and he'll cover the rest. It sounds like fun. we've been to Daytona and Disney but never Key West so we are thinking about going.
I will waiting to hear about your visit to the doctor. We'll pray extra today for you and Owen. Keep your head up.

Hi, Owen
I met you at Mona Hartwig's Celebration of Life a few years ago and have been keeping tabs on you thru my friend, Suzi Miller. Just saw her two weeks ago, and we had a great time at lunch. I asked her how you are doing (I keep your photo she gave me on my dining room table centerpiece), and she said she would forward the link so I could hear about your vacation! What a GREAT time you guys had, eh?
I'm so glad you are doing so well, and are getting to do more and more things!!! Maybe someday Suzi can bring you to our lake (we are in Canada) to do some fishing!!!
Best of luck, your friend Judy Kelsey

YAY for a fantastic vacation! Woo Hoo! I am so jealous you got to eat with Tigger...he's my favorite. And I LOVED Typhoon Lagoon; but then again I love about any water park in the world. You'll be happy to know that back up here at home I awoke to two days of frost on my car and we are all freezing. But today's supposed to be unseasonably nice. It will be a nice welcome home for you all.
We met with Make A Wish on Sunday and Morgan has chosen to go to the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas over April School Break. OH break my heart as you can imagine I am heartbroken. LOL! :) Might have to bring my clubs...wanna join me for 18?

He is more independent since he's now in a different school than mom. It's working out good. He has taking the bus a couple time s already this year. I had to bring him and pick him up last year ever since his diagnosis. I get a little break now. We both needed that. He knows mom loves him lots. My daughter has been sick for 2days now. I'm hoping Brennan doesnt get it. They have been trying to keep their distants. Brennan is on a bowling league also. He usually starts in Oct. I believe. I know April is a long time to stick with especially when it's a Sat. no sleeping in. You all have a safe and fun time on vacation.

Hi Owen and Family
We have been very busy here at home and school. Brennan likes 7th grade. He has even riden the bus for me. I drove him everyday since his diagnosis. He is doing better now that we are in different schools. He's more independent which is nice. My daughter is sick right now with headach and vomiting. Hope Brennan doesn't catch it. Gym class is a struggle for Brennan also. He can't play football this year either Bummer. We'll get there. I hope you all have a wonderful time at Disney. I could use another vacation like that. It also sounds like Tyler and Jake will do just fine in school as well. Brennan is on a bowling league too. I hope to make a moms night out. Everytime theres one I have something going on. I will meet everyone someday. Stay healthy!!!!!!!

Hi Angie,
It was fantastic meeting you at mom's night. You're absolutely right, I feel like I've know all of you forever. It's amazing how much our lives parallel because of cancer. Thanks for being so welcoming of me as the newbie. I had the best time talking and laughing with you. I can't wait to do it again. You know, we have to always look for the good things that are coming out of this journey with cancer. Friends like you are definitely my good thing.
The picture of your boys is wonderful. God love you, three boys! Wow!

Woo Hoo! So glad you had a good 26th! And going to Disney to boot? wow, I'm jealous. Morgan hasn't taken her wish trip yet either. She wanted to wait until she was O/T ... so we're meeting with them in the next couple weeks. She wants to go to Atlantis in the Bahamas (Oh darn...I'm crushed...hehe).
HEY Toby Keith played at our fair too. How was it?
Praying for Owen always and of course all of you. How's that handicap this year Mom? I still haven't played. Oh well, maybe next year.

Hi Guys
We were at 5c all day in the private room on the end. Brennan is doing better. He gets his new port on Friday. I'm a little nervous because it's another surgery. A good place to eat at Disney is Chef Mickey's. It's an all you can eat buffet with prime rib. Big sundea bar also. We've ate at the Crystal Palace also. We like that too. Sorry we missed each other. I can't make it to the moms night out because I started school this past Monday. TTY soon

Angie,

So how is it going with Owen on his trip? Are you bumming yet. How did he do flying? That always makes us nervous. Your right about he'll be having so much fun he'll be home before he realized you weren't there. Brennan went to an over night last night and made it until 10:30 then he called for me to go and pick him up. He had fun while he was there. He also had chemo yesterday so he might have been alittle under the weather. I know when we got home he was out like a light. Normally it's not a problem for him to be away. Good luck with your new system. I also met Patty and Lauren yesterday. I recognized Lauren but didn't know who she was but her face was familiar then Patty came over and introduced themselves.

Yay for good days! I love this update, full of bounce and fun...vacation for Sir Owen - what a blast! I am so happy to hear he is doing well off treatment.
As far as golf, my clubs remain dusty in the basement. Kyle has been begging to go and will probably get his half year membership next week. I, however, cannot even think about wrapping my arthritic joints around a club - but I'll get a golf "contact high" by wandering the course with Kyle. Miss Morgan is off to the regional soccer tourney in Maine this weekend, so I will actually put my feet on some sand and we're looking forward to that.
Don't forget, if you guys ever meander over the Vermont way, give us a call. And bring your clubs! I'll just duct tape my fingers to my driver and we'll have a ball!
God bless,

Hello all! I have been thinking of you and wanted to pop my head in to say hello. Sounds like Fathers Day was fun, including the rescue mission...lol.
When I read about Owen's bruises, I sat here nodding. Morgan has more bruises now, off treatment than she ever had ON treatment or even at diagnosis (I don't recall any at that time believe it or not). But I rest assured that these are all "good old fashioned bruises" caused by getting mauled daily on the soccer field and I let out my breath in a huge sigh of relief. Praying that Owen's are just boys being boys bruises too!
Hope you guys are having a great summer, splashing around in the pool!

Hi Owen & Angie
I have been home exactly one day since May 17th. I went to California for 4 days. Visited the Gyno & Diabetes Dr. My lab results were awesome!!! 46 LDL. Since you are almost a Doctor Angie you must know that is the BAD Cholesteral. Had a very too short visit with the Grand daughter. Soooo cute & running all over the place. I got back on May 22, picked up doggies from the "CDA Pet Resort & Spa" and headed for Canada for 4 days. The day before I was to come home Auntie Anne (81 years old) slipped on wet grass & broke her ankle.Don't even get me started on the Canadian Health System. Anyhow she had to go to Cranbrook to an Orthopedist (the next day) & didn't get into surgery until 8 pm. I came home for that day & went back the next. She is doing great. It was a clean fracture & she is in a cast up to the knee. So far no pain which is good since she can not tollerate pain medication. She gets around great in a wheel chair & can pretty well take care of herself so I came home today. Ladies from home care come in the am & pm to help and Nancy & Lorraine check on her often. Friends & neighbors come & go & I left her with several frozen meals. She is really looking forward to seeing Owen (&Pat) but mostly Owen. Her place is as beautiful as ever so we should have a good time. I will go up with them. I think she will be OK. Us Faynor women are tough stuff!!! My dogs love it there (8 acres) Sheba mostly lies on the door step and barks at anyone that comes over. Lucky Pierre is all over the place and when ther car was loaded & Sheba & I were ready to go he wouldn;t get in the car. He kept going back to Anne who was in the door way & tried to go back in the house. My feelings were really hurt!! I know most of the family reads this so that is why it is so long. Her # is (250) 428 2444. She usually naps from 1-2:30 pm. She has a cordless phone but let it ring a lot in case she doesn't have it with her. I am going to send in my donation tomorrow for the Relay since I have been pre occupied. Looking forward to your visit Owen.

I am so happy that tonight is Owen's last dose! What a long hard journey you have all had. I very much understand how you felt watching Owen play and swing on the vine. We've had a few times this spring when Fergus has been running around with other kids--"playing" football--barely keeping up because his gait and legs are not as strong either, or jumping on a trampoline for hours with a kid he just met. Not getting too tired, and not clinging to us. Rob and I are often in tears about those moments, which look so normal to other parents. Yesterday as I made the kids french toast they were sitting at our table drawing pictures. Sun was streaming in, and I thought how happy I was this Mother's Day, and how great it was to have this moment 3.5 years after the horrors of diagnosis. I can only imagine how ready you are to leave all this behind.

Thinking of Owen today,

Lauren

Good Morning Angie. I feel your sadness in your entry. I went through the same thing last week. Three of the kids I pray for earned their wings, as Morgan was going O/T. I am completely dumfounded how some kids do so well and others are not as fortunate. It breaks my heart.
I wish I had advice on how to tell Owen about Mira. Morgan is so much older than Owen, so I have always just been able to tell her and know she could process it -- although she's never really lost any child that she was close to. Certainly it is a position between the rock and the hard place. I will pray for you, that you find just the right way to talk to Owen and that he will be ok.
Praying for you always over here in VT!

Angie, I am thinking of you as you go thru this very difficult time. Certainly it is difficult helping Owen deal with all his own problems, and then to have to tell him about a child who didn't make it....I'm glad you got a break from the boys so you can deal with this. I know you feel that you are just doing what you have to do, but you are an inspiration to all of us. Cancer is scary for adults, it must be terrifying for children. My thoughts and prayers are with you every day.

Its still a lot of snow here in VT, but it is ALMOST all melted off my roof today. woo hoo! Hard to believe my daughter will be playing in an outdoor soccer tournament next weekend. Good Morning Owen and family! I am just checking in on you and sorry to hear about your low counts. I am hoping by now they've started to come up and you are feeling better. Take it easy on poor Jake, ok?
Mom - if the snow doesn't go away soon, I am going to stage a revolt. Feel free to join me. The only benefit is that seasonal allergy sufferers are not destined to see pollen until sometime in August. haha. Yeah, thats comforting.
Morgan was supposed to run a 5k race today with her soccer team. Given the temperature outside, her not feeling very well this a.m and less than 30 days until she goes off treatment? uhhh, we are politely declining and she is back in bed nice and warm.
Hope all is well and you are enjoying a nice weekend.
Praying for you always.

Easter Reflections
by : Helen Steiner Rice,
With OUR EYES we see
the beauty of Easter
as the earch awakens once more...
With OUR EARS we hear
the birds sing sweetly
to tell us Spring again is here...
With OUR HANDS we pick
the golden daffodils
and the fragrant hyacinths...
But only with OUR HEARTS
can we feel the MIRACLE of GOD'S LOVE
which redeems all men...
And only with OUR SOUL
can we make our 'pilgrimage to God'
and inherit His Easter Gift of ETERNAL LIFE.
I pray for a blessed Easter for your family

Hi Owen

"I Asked the Lord to Bless You"

I asked the Lord to bless you
As I prayed for you today,
To guide you and protect you,
As you go along your way...

His love is always with you
His promises are true.
And when we give Him all our cares,
You know He will see us through...

So when the road you're traveling on
seems difficult at best,
Just remember I'm here praying
And God will do the rest...

Hi Owen & Ang / Glo & Dejah
Sorry to hear you are in the Hosptal but it is the best place to be under the circumstances. Poor you Ang & Glo...You don't even get to be sick..God forbid...What would they all do if you were under the weather??? You are SUPER MUMS!!! That is better than Superman,Spiderman,The Hulk,Batman,& all men in general.Hang in there. You are both very tough cookies!!!I would sure want you with me if I ever got sick!!!(and that is a possibility) I am leaving Tues morning for Europe. I will stay with a friend in London until the 16th when I go to Gottenburg Sweden for the World Figure Skating Championships. I return to Spokane Aurport the night of March 23 (Easter)around 11 pm if all goes according to schedule. Sheba & Lucky Pierre will go to the Coeur d'Alene Pet Resort & Spa where they are well known. It will be pretty expensive. I have a couple of dog sitters that will stay at the house with them but I am worried Pierre might run out on the Lake & fall through the ice.(Of course that would solve a lot of my problems...He is for sure a relative of Karma's.
Love you Auntie Kay

I am so sorry about the AVN diagnosis. It sure seems to hit males more often than females...interesting, huh? The best advice I can give is to do your research. I wish I would have done something sooner for Johnathon. AVN caused by steriods is becoming more common, which means better treatments are becoming available. There are many studies going on right now. You will be blazing a trail and hopefully a successful one! As always, if you have any questions, I am more than happy to share what I know. Take care.

I am so happy to hear Owen is on the mend and heading home. We will keep praying for his healing and that once he's in his own surroundings he continues to thrive and heal.

Hi Owen & Angie
Sorry to hear you are back in the Hospital and hope you are out soon.I am buried in snow here and am ready to sell my car, get a couple more dogs & a dog sled. It just keeps snowing and snowing and snowing...The Ski areas are going crazy. The good news is I bought a season pass and the bad news is that I can't get to the slopes. In fact, the worst part is my driveway. Hey, maybe I can ski down it!! Sheba & Lucky Pierre LOVE the snow. They frisk around in it like it is a different kind of sand like the beach in California. Feel better. Love Auntie Kay, Sheba & Lucky Pierre

My daughter, Lisa Ann St. Louis was diagnosed with a brain stem glioma on February 12, 1988. Dr. Dubowy was her oncologist at 5c. Dr. Dubansky, who also has left, was another of her doctors. Margaret McEvoy, whose husband is, or was, a florist in Auburn, was her 5C nurse. My new husband's first wife died from cancer. Her sister is Pam Wallawender. Pam told me about Owen. I was cleaning out some papers today, and I wadded up the one with this web site on it, preparing to through it away, then I saw the name Owen, and recognized it as a name of a young boy I have been praying for. I came to the web site for the first time. She had given it to me back in July. I viewed some of the photos and read some of the entires in the guestbook and the journal. I do know what you are going through. My prayers and hopes are with you every day and with this e-mail I send a hug for Owen, and one for each of his brothers, and also one for every else in his family. Lisa was 3 weeks less than 2 years old when she was diagnosed. She had two older brothers, aged 8 and 13 at the time.
