Cameron Boyd

These pages have been set up so friends and family of Cameron can keep up on the progress of Cameron and his family.
WELCOME

Let me tell ya bout my family , really folks there are no sibs for me. I am an only child, I was the delight of my Mom and Dad when I took a big deep breath and let out a howl on April 14, 2000. I was a big guy and soooo happy to flex my arms and legs, it was tight quarters in there. I grew pretty fast with out many problems, except Ivy called me bulimia baby cause I would gag myself when I had my formula to make me throw up a little (maybe the tumor). I am trying really hard to re-learn a lot of things since the tumor was removed. I think I just might learn to drive before I walk again. I am trying with a lot of help to balance well enough to walk again, it is such a bummer to have to be a speed crawler, but I am, yes, I am fast. I have learned to charm the gals with a wink, learned that very early, before the tumor even. I like Elmo, and as a younger guy was set on being BOB THE BUILDER. I play drums for Grampy as he plays guitar. I dance if I don't have to move my feet, I can shake my booty and keep time with my fists, Rush really rocks.

Mom: What can I say, she is AWESOME, she does so much to help me beat the daylights out of the beast blob in my head. She is a hair cutter, but quit to stay home with me, (ouch) that hurt our budget and it makes it hard on a MOM, cause everone knows Mommies like to shop and she misses that. She is short, looks shorter when she is with my Dad's family, they are all tall. But over all ya just gotta know she is a REALLY GOOD MOMMY.

Dad: Well Dad is the GREATEST. He is always doing things to make my life as good as he can. He has to go to a job a lot and that makes me sad some of the time cause I really like to have him here playing with me and helping me with chores. Most of all he gives me lots of love cuddles and I am on top of the world it seems when he picks me up. He is TALL.

I have a Grampy and Grammy who live nearby. I have aunts, uncles, and cousins. And there is Ivy. She is not really family but if you can adopt family then I adopt her. She took care of me while my folks worked before the doctors found that blob that thinks it needs to hang around with me.

I have a lot of people on my health team and I am so glad they are. They keep using lots of things to help me. I can not walk on my own anymore, and it is rather hard to understand some of my words. This is all because of the surgery. That's it for now, read on for more about what I have gone through and what goes on now. Read the journal just below the introduction of my problems.
____________________________________

On June 25th, 2002 Cameron was dx with a tumor in his head. He went through surgery to remove the tumor on June 28th, 2002. It was called a medulloblastoma. This a cancerous tumor that is most often found in children, but sometimes in adults as well. He is currently involved in a clinical trial at Children's Hospital of Seattle.

He also experienced posterior fossa syndrome after the surgery. This is a condition common after invasive procedures of the brain. It varies in the degree of severity from person to person. Cameron experienced a lot of disablity due to this. He had vision, muscle, and vocal problems.

After completing the clinical trial at Children's of Seatte in August of 2003 the MRI showed a clean scan and no visible evidence of tumor. He was considered in remission until he began experiencing symptoms in November of 2003. The next MRI had been scheduled for December, however it was pushed earlier and 2 new tumors were present in the upper part of Cameron's head. The health team including Cameron's parents decided to enter another clinical trial, which consisted of three rounds of another chemo he had not used before with 3 week intervals between treatments. Cameron tolerated this chemo quite well, minimal vomiting, some minor appetite disturbances, no hair loss and balance issues. He was given injections to bring his blood levels up to allow a stem cell harvest for a transplant, however these counts did not reach the height necessary so he is currently being treated in hospital (admission on 1/24/04) with high dose chemo and the injections will be repeated. The MRI on 1/20/04 showed the larger tumor was dying from the center outward, the second one had doubled in size and no new tumors were dectected. More details will be added as they are made available.

Cameron's Mom was getting ready to return to her job just before this relapse. Now this is not happening and their budget is becoming very short. Their financial obligation have not diminished but their income has dropped the second paycheck completely. They have exhausted any ready money they had, including some retirement accounts, and added funds are still needed. They have sought out some agencies to help them get through this but only small help has been available. Friends and family have helped to the extent they are able. Help can be offered them by e-mail through the web page address or by USPS at P.O. Box 5525, Lynnwood, Wa.98046

Journal

Heeeeey people! Sorry for the long update time, but we got a new author on the page. Drumroll please.... it's my (ahem) favorite cousin Kaleigh!
Good News!(Well, sort of) I got my ears in, but I really don't like them. It took my mom and a buch of other people to hold me down and get 'em in. Oh, well. At least I can hear.

Well, I got a few new favorite sayings. When someone tries to change the channel I'm watching, I say, "Hey! That's not nice!" And when my died tried to vacuum up loose candy while we were cleaning out the car, I said, "Don't vacuum up my candy! That makes me mad!"

Guess what?!?!?!? Easter's only a couple of weeks away!!!!! Can anyone say "Throw plastic eggs at my cousins time!"?

Any way I should be sleeping so I'm going to go now and I will try and update at least once a week.

Cameron, or as Ivy said Cam the ham, and do not forget to laugh till your belly hurts
