Zoey's struggle began in 2004. Her seizures increased & became relentless. After 2 brain surgeries she was diagnosed w/ Rasmussens Encephalitis. A radical surgery was necessary, it was our only hope. Her Hemispherectomy was Dec 2005. Her recovery has been a long road with many ups and downs. Through it all she has been a stellar patient, loving child & an amazing gift.

Good Evening~

It is a beautiful night here. Some fog settling in the low spots behind the house by the pond, the moon almost full and very bright. You have probably been wondering where we've been?? My laptop has been out of commission and we have been very busy. Sorry if i worried anyone, we are all doing well...I got my laptop back this last weekend and have missed it and you all very much.

I'm not sure where to start so I'll just jump in. Last I wrote about Zoey's shunt. We went back to have it adjusted one more time so it is now set at 1.0, but she has been complaining of headaches more frequently so we are going to schedule a CT and visit Dr. Dunn yet before school. Along with some other specialist appointments.

We decided to take the summer off of therapy, which has been a nice change of pace. We started back up this past week or so. We've decided to move on from Gillette and have enrolled Zoey in a different therapy center in Woodbury. It is a great place and she is very excited to check out the new place. The therapists seem really nice. The Gillette therapists will always have a special place in our hearts and we hope to get back for some visits, Zoey still sees a range of specialists there a few times a year.

Zoey's still having trouble sleeping, so we are continuing to try and find solutions to that. We are all tired all the time and that isn't good. The past couple of months we've also been trying some attention meds to try and help Zoey gain some focus for school and not feel so out of control. She is a busy bee that girl. So...the Adderol, made her very tired during the day...Next =) the Vyvanse left her an emotional puddle...Next =( So we are now moving on to Concerta. We'll see if that might work for her, but we have a couple other good options to try yet if it doesn't.

Summer fun for Zoey has been, swimming, getting her ears pierced, riding Tanner at horseback therapy (which she doesn't allow me to call "therapy" =), and playing with Lexci and Ridley. We signed up for Dance class last week which she was very excited to get back to. Along with starting to get ready for 2nd Grade, Wow!

Tonight she lost her 2nd tooth (how fitting) and is waiting for the toothfairy to come tonight. She kept saying "this is so very exciting"!

You are probably wondering about Ridley too. He has become such a big boy over this summer. He LOVED playing soccer and is looking forward to a fall league if they have one. He is a reading machine. Recently he has gotten into Pokemon. He can't get enough swimming in either. Rid has lost 3 teeth and has past Zoey up in the height department. We went to Underwater Adventures for Shark Fest and got to take a tour above the tanks which was cool. He has gotten to have a few good friend playdates. He is SO ready for Kindergarten and is going to be turning 6 in a few weeks. I was watching him as he fell asleep tonight and just can't believe he is so big. What a sweetie!

Well I'm signing off for now, and promise it won't be as long between updates. Thank you all for your wonderful messages and continued support for our family. This is a long journey and knowing your out there caring for us is something that makes us feel very special. I pray that God showers his blessings on you.
