Timeline of Zack's illness...
April/May of 2004 Zack had fever on and off for about 3 weeks. He'd be fine one day and the next he'd have fever. He complained of pain in his leg and would limp around for a day and then wake up and be fine. Then his hip hurt, then his arm, all would come and go intermittantly. Some days he was tired and would sleep on his desk at lunch. He was extremely pale. All symptoms were signs of rheumatic fever, but he NEVER had a sore throat, NEVER had the white strawberry/red strawberry tongue, NEVER had a coating in his throat. We didn't take him to the dr (regretably).
Nov 2005 Zack is seen as his pediatrician for testicular swelling. She listens to his heart and has us go to the local hospital the next day for an echocardiogram. He's got a severe murmur.
Dec 2005 Zack is diagnosed with mitral valve insufficiency (prolapse) with moderate regurgitation. He has reheumatic heart disease.
Wow wow and wow. It's been forever since I've updated this site. I'm not sure that anyone even reads this anymore!! LOL
Zack's been doing well so far. He came to me a week or so ago and said that he's had periods of his heart pounding and he's just sitting around. He said it's been going like that for awhile, every now and then, and he hasn't said anything because he wanted to see if it would just go away. He says that he gets tired too sometimes if he's playing outside. His next echo is scheduled for March 3. I'm thinking she's going to want to schedule his surgery for June when he gets out of school. Maybe not :) We'll hope and pray for the best.
If you still read this journal, please post a quick Hello in the guest book. If nobody is truly reading anymore, I'm going to take the page down :)
