Zach Gabbard's Journal

Wow! I can't believe it's already been 1 year since Zach made his surprise visit to the State Basketball Tournament - in a wheel chair. Well, this year he will be running as he enters the arena! I don't know if he will get any playing time, but I do know that he is very excited about doing warm-ups at the Target Center.
GO JACKETS! YOU CAN WIN IT!

It is so good to see Zach out on the basketball court warming-up with his team. He has played for only one or two minutes at the end of five games.
Zach's endurance has improved alot since school started, but at times he fatigues easily. He has basketball practice everyday after school; he still deals with short term memory problems, although i have noticed an improvement.
I was extremely happy to hear that he had jogged non-stop for 30 minutes on the treadmill, at home. He told me he completed 3 miles! Way to go, Zach! Steve checked his blood pressure and everything was perfect!

It was an amazing night last night at the Perham school gym. Zach Gabbard for THREEEEEE! Oh yeah, it was nothing but net! I was so excited for him when he made that shot. He told me after the game that he could 'feel it' - the shot was going in.
On my way home from the game I thought about what time of the evening it had been when he made that shot. I came to realize that it was just about the same time, give or take a few minutes, that I received my phone call one year ago on THURSDAY, (Jan. 20, 2011 was on a Thursday) from my dad, who told me Zach had a faint pulse.and was barely hanging on. Some might call that 'creepy' - I say, "Everything happens for a reason"
Thank you Lord for watching over my son.
