8th Alive Day

Wow, eight years!
I can't believe it has been that long since Yuriy was injured! What a journey it has been, with ups and downs. Some years it seemed like he could not catch a break. This was, fortunately not one of those years!
Just in case you didn't hear, we had our babygirl! She was born three and half weeks early on October 19th weighing 6lbs 8ozand 19 inches long. Her name is Adelina and we love her more than life itself<3
There was a lot of adjustments and change this year, mainly good changes. Yuriy had to get used to other people helping himinstead of me. He stayed in the hospital room with me while giving birth and not passing out! (He was close but he didn't lol) I couldn't transfer him for about six weeks after having our baby, so his brother and my family helped so much. Not getting his beautysleep made him mad for a while in the beginning when we first brought her home. Now he has adjusted to it and actually stays calm! He is really transforming into the dad I know he could be, he gets concerned about her, never misses a doctor appointment with her, wants to hold her all the time, and just loves her more than anything. These things may seem little but to him they are very big! Because of his brain injury he likes routine, and babies don’t get routinesjust yet so the fact that he is handling it do well makes me very happy.
He has accomplished so much, not just this year, the past eight! The odds were against him, yet, he still continued to fight. That is what I love most about him; he never gives up even when times get hard.I wish he could walk, run and talk the way he used to, but this is life and we take what we can get. He should be very proud of himself because I know I am.I pray that he continues to make progress and that he is blessed with good health and happiness. As well as everyone that helps him, his brother is his other caregiver, besides me, and he is doing a great job. Everyone at Next stepsChicago, those trainers are so dedicated and just amazing.
There are so many people to thank, but my baby is finally sleeping so I must make this short.Thank you to everyone in our life! Thank you mom and dad for everything you do to help us, don’t know where we would be without you! We love you all!

Written Jul 15, 2013 8:33pmSo as many of you may know, at least the people that follow us on facebook :)
Yuriy and I are expecting a baby girl! We are due in November!
Other than that, Yuriy has been doing amazing, he is still in physical therapy and horseback riding which is really helping him gain back some balance and strength. He gets acupuncture and massage as well. He has done many things since my last update, too many to list.
His vision and speech are about the same but he is healthy and happy so that makes me happy.
(If you don't follow him on facebook yet, look up Cpl Yuriy Zmysly)
Hope you all are doing well and thanks for keeping up with us :)
7th Alive day
Written Jan 9, 2013 2:16pmSeven years today, Yuriy suffered a severe anoxic brain injury after an emergency appendectomy on base. He has come so far and accomplished so much. Every day I am amazed by him. It takes a village to help someone recover from a brain injury. With out the help from our family, friends, doctors, therapists, advocates and organizations we would not be where we are today. Even with this tragic accident happening to us, we are blessed in many ways.
Thank you for your support, prayers and love.
Here is a video of his accomplishments this year :)
