Dear friend

Though it has been many years since we've seen each other, my memories of our childhood in the neighborhood remain vivid. In particular I remember our endless pickup baseball games in summer and football in the fall, with you and me and my brother Dave and your brother Ozzie -- and sometimes your big sister Ginger -- which always lasted until our mother called us home for dinner across the valley. I remember the time your broke your nose after colliding with another player. I remember our learning to operate a stick shift on your mom's white Ford Falcon. I remember our friendly debates about our religious beliefs. Most of all, I remember your humor, your loyalty, and the strength of your character -- qualities you obviously carried throughout your life. How quickly it all went. Godspeed, dear Wynn.
