Will had such a great week at Camp Victory Junction! It is such an amazing place! Thanks for so many cards and letters! Will was so surprised!
After I picked him up, we headed straight to the beach! It was so much fun. I tool Rachel with us, which was a blessing because Will and Rach played the whole time! Emily worked on her sun tan and drove some little 15 year old boy crazy with her bright aqua bikini! One of the best parts about being there was that my dad and Barbara also were there too. Their room was next to ours and we spend a good bit of time with them just hanging out. It was such a great!
There is a lot going on this summer for Mr. Will. He has four weeks of Summer Day Camp at Freedom Christian Center (where he has been going for years). He is excited to see some old friends there that he only gets to see in the summertime.
Will is also excited about getting to go to Pop and Grandma’s for the annual 4th of July Bash! Will has missed it for the past THREE years because he has been away at Camp Care with usually falls during that time. Camp has been changed to the last week of July this year so it worked out. Will is really looking forward to it since it is a huge family get together (and probably the last one since they have their house on the market).
So as I mentioned Will has Camp Care July 27 – Aug 1st. Emily is going with him this year, and that really makes him happy. Camp Care is really called Camp Lurecrest, but for one week out of the summer the oncology unit from Levine’s and Presby take it over and it is called Camp Care. It is so awesome!!!
Then, on Aug 6th we leave for Maine to attend out annual family reunion also known as Camp Sunshine!!! This is the biggest and most important event of our summer. This is when FA families from all over the world come together to educate themselves, to bond, to laugh & cry, to meet other families, to share experiences and to for one week out of the year……feel normal. I can’t even begin to explain how important this trip is to me and both the kids. There have been lifelong friendships born at Camp Sunshine for all three of us. It’s the one place where everyone feels normal – Me, Will and Emily! Truly Amazing!!
Like I said, it’s a busy summer! It will fly by before you know it!
Today is my birthday and on the way to work as I was having a heart to heart with God, I made my birthday wish. I wished for Will to continue to be healthy and to continue to defy the odds. He is such a blessing, and it is so amazing that here he is at age 11, with FA and his life is so full and so active. We are truly blessed!
