Written May 9, 2011 7:31am
Some years back, Wanda served as Epsilon State President of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. Delta Kappa Gamma promotes professional and personal growth of women educators. Wanda believed in professional development and she loved traveling! To honor Wanda and to promote the purposes/goals of Delta Kappa Gamma, we have established the Wanda Gunn Live and Learn Scholarship.
These funds will be administered and awarded in accordance with Epsilon State policies.
Gifts to the Wanda Gunn Live and Learn Scholarship should be mailed to Linda Jackson, Epsilon State Treasurer, P. O. Box 835, Walker, LA 70785-0835.
Written May 6, 2011 2:38pmIn honor of Mrs. Gunn, Superintendent Gerald Dawkins ordered all Caddo schools to lower their flags to half staff today. Shown here is the flag outside Central Office.
Written May 6, 2011 8:41amA service celebrating Wanda's life is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 7 at the First United Methodist Church in Shreveport. Wanda helped us plan the service which will include the singing of one of her favorite hymns, "To God Be the Glory" and scripture from Psalms, her favorite book in the Bible. In fact, yesterday afternoon, we had just finished reading Psalm 27 when she left this earth to join her heavenly family. One of Wanda's other favorite hymns,"Just As I Am," will be the postlude to tomorrow's service.
The burial will be Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. in Jena, LA at the Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Gunn's legacy will live on through a Delta Kappa Gamma scholarship established in her honor. The Wanda Gunn Live and Learn Scholarship will allow key women educators an opportunity to grow professionally. Gifts to the scholarship fund should be mailed to Linda Jackson, Epsilon State Treasurer, P.O. Box 835, Walker, LA 70785-0835.
Thank you for your continued prayers.
