I think of Wanda so often.   Whenever I needed to think through an idea or just find out how she was handling something in Caddo, I would call her.  I loved to "pick her brain", and she never made me feel less for doing so.  I continue to hold her in my heart as an example of what a great assistant superintendent and classy Southern lady should be.  I still walk into Steinmart and listen for her voice and hope to find her there!!!!

Hi Mrs. Gunn's Family and Friends,

Mrs. Flint told us that Wanda Gunn was a teacher of teachers for a long time and that she believed in working hard.  People would say she went an extra mile in her work and that was a nice compliment.

Today as we walked our laps to mark 100 miles on the track, we wore head bands that read "Wanda Gunn 100th Mile."  We celebrated Wanda Gunn with shakers and streamers because 100 miles is an even bigger compliment than an extra mile.

We also ate popsicles when we finished our laps today.  That proves it was a really big celebration because we never get to eat popsicles at 9:30 in the morning!

Love,

Good afternoon to all the sweet friends who were able to attend my Aunts home going service Saturday May 7,2011.  A note of thanks for all the kind words of encouragement to my Aunt Wanda and Uncle Reg during these past months.  Thank God for friends like you!!  A special thanks to Ann and Cooper, WOW you guys were awesome in helping my sweet Aunt and Uncle with all the details.  Also, the friends from Delta Kappa Gamma attendance was very touching to all of us and those that made the journey from Shreveport.  We are all missing her as I know those of you who were very close to her are.  Please continue to lift us in prayer, especially Uncle Reg.  Love You all!      Ann W.

My heart was broken to hear of Wanda's passing, so I can only imagine the pain that Reggie and her family and closest friends are experiencing.  Our consolation is our wonderful memories of her and knowing that Wanda is at peace with God.  Our thoughts and prayers are with all who loved her.

It is with deep sorrow of the passing of an Angel that God had blessed all of us with. My prayers go out to Wanda's family and my family will be lifting the family up all week in prayers.

May God Bless the family and give them Peace during this time.

Peace and Blessings

Mr. Reggie and family,

This is a sorrowful and joyous time. Our hearts are hurting for your loss, but our heads know that Mrs. Wanda is in the arms of her Savior and Friend. That is a comfort, but doesn't help with the pain today. Lean on each other and continue to draw strength from the Lord. He loves you and will be there to get you through this trying time. You also have the prayers of Caddo Parish going up for you and your family.

I will never forget the first time that I met Mrs. Gunn.  I was at an inservice for new teachers in Caddo Parish.  I thought that Ms. Frizzle from the Magic School Bus had stepped right out of the pages of a storybook and into our meeting!  She was the epitomy of resourcefulnes, class, and creativity all rolled into one.  I will always smile when I think of our own real life "Ms. Frizzle".  I can just imagine her in heaven reading stories to all of the children.  My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.

Cooper, Anne, and Reggie,

Thank you for allowing us to "be with Wanda" these last few weeks of her earthly life through CaringBridge. All of her personal and professional life, Wanda was such a loving, caring, and giving person ... always thinking about and doing for others.

The three of you gave us a chance to let her know how much she was truly loved and appreciated as she completed her earthly life and peacefully transitioned into her heavenly life. God Bless You for allowing us that privilege! You are now being remembered in prayer, since Wanda has received her Heavenly Rewards and is at Peace with her Creator.

There are so many saddened hearts out here.  Many of us thought Wanda would beat this. She was known for her strength and tenacity.

Unfortunately, cancer is so often stronger than the strongest-willed person.  My own dear mother was in that group, also. She died of bladder cancer, fighting all the way.

Wanda will be missed!
