Well, it's been nearly a month since I've updated...um, can someone please tell me where '08 went? Sheesh!
Dave is doing physically well and he's even got a beard now....He went from the Kojak look and is now well on his way to Barry Gibb. He's tired though, it seems to creep up on him suddenly through the day. But, he's been really active around the house, going up and down the stairs is helping, and his appetite is definately at full throtle!
Next month we hope to get a date to have his chemo port removed from his chest (a minor surgery) and then he'll be on board to return to work by the beginning of January.
I got a part time job at a non-profit organization that looks promising to turn into more hours after the beginning of the year. I am really enjoying getting back into the work force again, and it's been good to help me regain some (or jog the old ones) brain cells I lost or misplaced with this ordeal.
Oh the garage sale...well it went very well despite the weather! The rain held off for a good part of the morning, but then it did start to come down pretty good. The proceeds helped us out so much, it appears that we will have one more sale around the first week of Dec.
We've started the ball rolling and began picking up where we left off with the childrens ministry at church. Although we're not entirely sure what God's got in store for the kids at our church, we are grateful that we are able to have an opportunity to help out!
Heather and Matthew will be living with Nana Vania and Grandpa Dave for a while. They are doing so well at their schools, and we really need to get back on our feet financially. It's the best case scenerio for our all our lives at this point. We are grateful that they have such wonderful grandparents that love them so much! We'll be picking Heather and Matthew up this Saturday so we can spend the next week together before Thanksgiving!
Never in a million years did I know that I could feel this thankful!
Our lives are definately not what many would aspire to, we're not rich, we're not famous, we're not beautiful, but it gives me great joy to feel this free and have this much gratitude for all that we do have!
Thank You Lord!
From this Simmons family to all of you...Happy Happy Thanksgiving...may it be a time for us all to truly give thanks and be really present in the moments we're afforded to be with those we love!
