Tristin Greer's Journal
Written Apr 14, 2010 2:55pmThey said it would be about 3 weeks for the hair to start coming out. They were right. Tristin looks as cute as ever! I told him I had triplets now, he looks so young. Austin and Justin love it. They said he looks like Ang from the cartoon series Avatar the Last Airbender. He kinda does. lol. Awesome! I took some really good pictures of him getting it cut, but I told him I wouldn't post them unless he wanted me too.
Tristin has felt good these past several days. His ANC was 200 last Thursday and went up to 5000 Monday! The doctor said he could go to school for a few hours so yesterday was his first day back in a month. He was so excited just to see everyone. He really misses being with all his friends. A huge part in his recovery is seeing and being around all of you. Please continue calling, texting, sending cards, writing in the guestbook, visiting, etc.. You have no idea how much it means to us and especially him. Several people have asked for his address:
1409 Wingate Lane
Hixson, TN 37343
Friday, we are going to Vanderbilt to talk with the stem cell doctor for the day. Monday, Tristin will be starting his 2nd cycle of chemo. We are hoping he will be able to do it outpatient and not have to stay in the hospital. I think long as there's not a fever, he will be able to go home at night. We have been blessed that he hasn't run a fever from the 1st cycle and has been able to stay home. He's in really good spirits except for the hair thing. The kid loved his hair. I told him it grows back and doesn't change who you are. You're still the beautiful person everyone knows and loves. People are going to love you and care about you no matter what.
On April 24, The International Association of Fire Fighters Local 820 Union is having a pancake breakfast fundraiser for us and two other families that are facing cancer issues. This will be held at The Chattanooga Fire Station 1 on Main St. from 8:00 to 11:00 Saturday morning. Everyone is invited to come down, check out the fire station, and eat some great pancakes. I hope that Tristin's counts are high enough to go. They're gonna have to be pretty low to keep him away from this. He's really excited about going. Everbody knows firefighters are some of the best cooks around! I think it's $5 a plate and all the proceeds go to the three families. Few people can say they have 400 brothers and sisters and I'm extremely proud to say that I do. Thank you so much.
Once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of our friends, family, and our new extended family everywhere that's praying for us. We are forever grateful.

1st round of chemo down! Tristin just finished up his first week of chemo and is doing great. He's had a little nausea from the meds but is in great spirits. I want to thank everyone that was able to come out to the hospital and see him this first week. I know it means soooo much to him to see his family and friends. We are very thankful and appreciate every one of you. The next 2 weeks will be at home recovering. We have an appointment Thursday to check his blood counts and make sure they are good.
Yesterday was Easter Sunday. I hope everyone was able to spend time with their families and loved ones. Tristin had a house full of them last night. We had family come up from Atlanta last night to see him. He was feeling a little bad that morning but by that night, he was his sweet, aggravating self. He loves having everyone around. He feeds off the positive energy and love that we all have for him. His Uncle Richard and grandmother took the twins to Atlanta with them for the next few days. YES! j/k I'm sure Tristin will miss them :)
