Day 79

Day 79 and going strong!  Sorry I haven't posted in awhile but fortunately, there hasn't been too much to post about.  Tori continues to do great!

She starts each morning doing her yoga.  She has really gotten her strength back and is focusing on her diet and exercise.  She manages to keep busy with friends, family, reading, relaxing with friends by the pool or at the lake and she has started cooking quite a bit.  Today she took her little brother Dylan and his two friends to Imagination Station and then came and watched his second baseball playoff game.  Dylan's team is named after Tori - "Tori-nadoes!".  They have been undefeated all year and play the championship game on Friday.

Tori has started packing as she will switch apartments in a couple of weeks.  She is just moving down the street but a little closer to campus.  In just about a month, she will begin her classes at BG.  She is taking three classes.  She is a little nervous as that "chemo" brain makes it difficult to focus on certain things, but I am sure she will do great.  She is soooo excited to be going back to school.

Her hair is just now starting to grow back...and it is very light, almost blond :). I am sure that will change as it grows ... she hopes it will anyway!

Tori was having a couple minor issues last week, so we had her back to the doctors for some tests.  Everything turned out to be fine and her numbers actually look great.

We we spent a long day yesterday back down at OSU - The James.  The picture is from the doctors office.  Tori's BMT doctor was very happy with her progress.  We discussed the clinical trial in length and signed the papers to get started.  They did a lot of blood work and she goes back to OSU next week for more blood work and tests and then will start the trial directly after that.  She will take one chemo pill a day for 18 mos.  They start her on a low dose and try to increase to see what her body will tolerate.  If her counts start to drop or if she starts to show any signs of damage to her liver or other organs, they will stop the trial.  There will be 28 people in the trial.  Currently there are three patients actively taking the drug, one patient was taking it but relapsed (cancer came back) and one patient who's counts dropped and had to stop the trial.  Tori will be patient number six.  She is not really looking forward to it as it requires weekly trips to OSU for the first month and twice a month after that, plus she may have negative reactions to the chemo while they find out what she can tolerate.  So, she wants to get started now, so she can make sure her body can handle it before school starts in a month.

Pelotonia is a huge bike ride that is held every year to support cancer research at OSU - The James.  Tori has seen how many people and organizations (especially The James) have supported her and she is so ready to give back.  Her doctor won't let her ride this year but she is going to go down with me (I will be riding for the first time this year) and she will be a Virtual Rider for Team OSU.  I will share her link once she is officially signed up.

Spending about eleven hours non-stop with Tori yesterday at OSU, we did a lot of talking.  She seems happy and excited about her future.  It is still not perfect and she knows she has a long way to go, but she seems excited about what her future holds and is ready to live life again!  So proud of that girl.

We can't thank each and everyone of you for your continued and constant prayers.

Cancer sucks, but we ARE beating this!
