Day 57

Tori is doing really good!  She continues with her yoga which has progressed into some aerobics and is getting her strength back and feeling good :). She has been back at her apartment full time and is trying to stay busy.  She is at Day 57.  Although it takes a year for Tori's immune system to be back to normal, they say the first 100 days are the most critical.  Day 50-100 are even more critical because you are feeling better and people tend to let up on some of their restrictions when they shouldn't.  Well she is more than half way there. :)

She met with her counselor at school and came to the realization that (do to her reduced schedule for the past year or so), she will not graduate on time.  It may not seem like a big deal, but at 20, she was bummed.  She realizes however, that she won't have to push herself now and can take it easy with her classes knowing she will have an extra year.  She is schedule for three classes this fall and is excited to be going back.  She is hoping to start back to work on a limited basis once she gets her hair back.

Each summer, I spend a day with each of my kids, one on one.  Tori's day was last Tuesday.  She spent her morning at grandma and grandpas making canvases and baking bread.  Then we went to Fridays for lunch, then shopping/browsing at Dicks, TJ Max, Wal-Mart and Sams. Tori was pretty exhausted by this time but was still going.  We ended our day with pedicures, Magic Wok and a movie.  Such a perfect day with such an awesome kid!  (See picture).  The other picture is of Tori and her little brother Dylan fishing in our pond.  Notice they both have a fish on their hook!

We have been reading up on the clinical trial, which would put Tori on a maintenance chemo drug (Revlimid) - one pill a day for 18 months.  It would require twenty four more visits to OSU over the next 18 months (in addition to our regular visits).  I an still checking to see if it is covered by insurance, but our plan is to do this.  Her next scan is the first part of September.

Anyway just wanted to give you a quick update...we are still smiling :)

Cancer sucks, but we ARE beating this!

wow, you both look great, and handsome Dillon is getting so big, I am still praying that this Cancer that sucks a big one, is gone by the roadside, and never raises it's evil head again in our family. I hope you have continued good health and a beautiful summer. Maybe I will see you all when I come out to see Aunt Mag & Aunt Dor, go to the doctors today to get my 27 staples out. God Bless, I love all of you, just very happy things are getting better for everyone. Love, Mary Jo
