While visiting family for the Thanksgiving holiday in 2005, Tony began having sudden eye pain and his right eye was bulging out. We took him to the local ER where a CT scan showed he had a 1 in. mass on his right optic nerve. He has since had 2 surgeries related to the tumor. April 07 scan showed a spot in the same area. Hopefully scar tissue.

Tony and I are doing fine thanks to the antibiotics. Since we caught it right away I never did get it! Wheww. I got a callback this morning from the first eye doc we saw up about getting a disk mailed back to us. I left it with them so he could have a radiologist compare old scans with the new ones they had just taken when we moved up here. I never heard anything back. The girl who returned my call said that she doesn't feel comfortable sending it through the mail and that they don't even have an envelope to fit. We live @ 1 hr away without major traffic so I was hoping for a better answer than that, like sending it registered or UPS. I am now going to have to drive out there sometime this week and pick it up.

Still no word from NC, so tonight I am going to try and download scans to the computer then to a disk. John is going to photcopy the reports for me.

I have posted a lot more pictures of Tony on my facebook site. The albums there hold more pictures and allow for higher resolution.

John just walked in for lunch. Tony's showing him a Lego creation he was working on during our school breaks.

UPDATE: Just a few minutes after this original posting Dr. Gold from UNC called. The university has a new spam filter that would not allow my mailings to go through since he never got them. We chatted for awhile and he is going to send off an email to Albany to find out what exactly what they want. Some places want the entire history including scans while others just want an overview.

Tony's scans are hard to read since the surgeries altered the area slightly and he has no vision to gauge changes by; scans are the only way to detect any new growth. This is why we are not comfortable with extending his oncology visits by too long.

Back to his studies....we have math and grammer left for today.
