Hi,
I'm heading off this weekend to the Bershires in MA for a retreat that I've been waiting months for! It's called the 'Crazy Sexy Cancer Boot Camp'- radical name, I know. It's run by a woman who was diagnosed with untreatable cancer EVERYWHERE in her early thirties. That was about 7 year ago and she's living a vibrant life WITH cancer. The retreat is all about changing your life and your attitude, figuring out what's really important. There will be lots of other young people there who either have cancer or have kicked it and I'm prepared to be very inspired
Which leads me to a quote by Joni Rodgers, author and cancer butt-kicker:
'When tomorrow was still a given and ignorance was still bliss, I was floating along like a paper sailboat on a lazy river, too caught up in my life to know...but the day that you're diagnosed with cancer, you stop dying and start surviving. You stop living and start staying alive.'
That pretty much says it all.
