Details on Services for Tom Luke
Written Jul 13, 2013 8:56amHello Everyone,
Thank you so much for the love this last week. We are grateful for the calls, cards and meals as well as all the wonderful messages that are now so easily possible through social media. We thank you.
I just wanted to clarify the next 2 days:
- Tonight Saturday July 13 from 6p-8p we will be receiving friends as Calling Hours at Pompey Community Church (Tom has been cremated so there will not be a body to view)
- Tomorrow Sunday July 14 Going Home Party (Memorial Service) at 3p with reception to follow
Originally, I was just going to have the Memorial Service but was encouraged to add the receiving time on Saturday to give people an option- if they couldn't go to one they could go to the other.
Hope to see you soon.

July 4, 2013 Tom passed this morning
Written Jul 4, 2013 1:13pmI was with Tom in the wee hours of the morning when it was apparent that something was changing and he might not be with us long. He was restless and then became increasingly quiet and stayed that way for a long time in the big old recliner he was so fond of. I made the bed next to him, opened the blinds and the windows so he could hear the birds (there were so many in the courtyard) and feel the warm breeze on his face and I laid upside down on the bed so I could hold his hand and see his face. His breathing slowed and stopped as he peacefully passed over. There are no words, really. How do you capture the loss of a lifetime together. I can't but I know he is free.
