Hello My Dear Family & Friends! At last, we meet again!
I do apologize for the delay in the update on Toa as so many of you are wondering how he’s doing. Toa’s been home from the rehab center a little over a month. It was pretty hectic the first few weeks being home, but things are going well now as he continues to work hard towards a full recovery.
Toa continues his therapy sessions twice a week at St. John’s Outpatient Therapy Center. They really work him hard in therapy with lots of strenuous workouts. He has now graduated from using a walker to a cane….Praise God! In therapy they made him walk ¼ of a mile with his cane for the first time…boy, that was a challenge for him! It’s only been a week now he’s been using his cane. At first he wasn’t completely convinced he no longer needed his walker so I hid it from him and it freaked him out for awhile, but everyday he becomes more confident that he will soon no longer need his cane!….Praise God for the Victory!
I’ve been working on getting Toa back to his normal routine again. A couple of weeks ago he attended his men’s D-12 prayer group meeting and surprised all his buddies, which was his first outing since his stroke. I’ve also been taking him out to the YAC trainings, although he’s not quite ready to get back into training mode, it was nice to have him out there as he got to see some of the kids. Just recently, I took him down to his office with John and Al, and they gave him a tour of the new YAC weight room in progress. Unfortunately, there’s no elevator in the building so he had to climb the stairs to get to the office, which was very difficult for him, but he did it!
This past Monday, Toa attended the church’s prayer meeting for the first time in four months. It was a very emotional evening for Toa as he was moved by the love and support he received from his fellow Christian brothers and sisters of South Coast Fellowship Church that night.
Looking forward to Toa getting back into the groove of things again. Thank you for your continued prayers and support for Toa and our family.
PRAISE REPORT: My last prayer request I asked if you can please pray for my dad who was sick with “Dengue Fever” and for Toa’s mom who was in the preparing for surgery to remove lumps in her breast. Well PRAISE GOD! Three days after my request dad broke through his fever and was able to fully recover! Toa’s mom did discover that the lumps were cancerous, but caught it just in time before it spread throughout her body….PRAISE GOD! She successfully had a mastectomy and is recovering very well. We sincerely appreciate your prayers.
I will continue to keep you posted on his progress, or may consider having my brother from another mother, Al Perez, keep you updated again; at least he updated you guys more frequently than I do..hahahaha…LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!! .....Vickie Saipale
