Tisha’s Story

"Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus the author and profector of our faith." Hebrews 12:1

As most of you know, I was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer 5 days before school started. I had surgery on the first day of school and was unable to be there for my boys or my students. It was a very emotional, tramatic diagnosis for my entire family.

As my pathology reports came back from several sources it was discovered that my cancer was a rare type of Ovarian Cancer, it was small cell carcenoma. Which simply means it's not you typical ovarian cancer. Seems fitting for me!?!? Therefore the treatment plan of chemotherapy will be a tough 6 agent regiment every 21 days for 6 cycles.

I had to leave my position teaching 2nd grade because my immune system would be so low I couldn't take the chance of going through cold season with my lovely friends. That was a difficult thing to tell my principal, co-workers, and especially my friend Caroline. We were to co-teach together and we had a game plan ready to go until the carpet was pulled out from under us.

Now my focus has turned to me. It's been a long time since I have put me first. It's something us Mom's just don't do very well. We are pulling together as a family to conquer this disease 1 day at a time. Our motto has become "Drive On' and we will all the way through these 6 cycles. Todd and I are committed to keeping the boys lives as normal as possible. You will see them at school and especially on the baseball field.

Thank you for you love and support as our family goes on this adventure with cancer.
