Well, I could not bring myself to read the Caring Bridge website yesterday. I woke up with her on my mind, and went to bed with her on my mind.
It is amazing about the timing of things. Steph had to do an oral presentation last week at school on someone who has impacted her life. Without any doubt in my mind, she chose Tish. I know this may seem long, but I felt I needed to share it:
Many people will tell you that someone famous has changed their life. With me, though, it's totally different. The one person who has touched and changed my heart is Tish Rayburn. Mrs. Rayburn passed away a year ago from ovarian cancer at the age of 39. She left behind a loving husband, two sons and an impacted world. My world will never be the same without her.
Mrs. Rayburn was a second grade teacher at the school I went to and my mom worked at. She and my mom were best of friends. Her sons and my brother were friends too. Todd, her husband, gives more than he has to to the world.
Even with all of the chemotherapy and IV's she had, she still was perky, talkative and amazing! She was my hero in her own special way. She is, was and will always be my role model, inspiration and support even if she's not around to be them. She was always smiling and making other people happy. She had you laughing from hello.
Everyone was shocked when she was told she had cancer. But she didn't let us down. She had a website that helped us stay in touch and up to date on our loving friend and her life. Slowly, people noticed a difference in her entries. Their frequency decreased and became shorter when she did write. But each continued to include sarcasm and mischief. They were both exciting and saddening to read.
Mrs. Rayburn may not have impacted YOUR life, but she sure saved mine! She was like a second mother to me. She has and continues to change my life.
She taught me to live today for today because tomorrow just may not come after all.
Our love to all...
