Well, I could not bring myself to read the Caring Bridge website yesterday.  I woke up with her on my mind, and went to bed with her on my mind.

It is amazing about the timing of things.  Steph had to do an oral presentation last week at school on someone who has impacted her life.  Without any doubt in my mind, she chose Tish.  I know this may seem long, but I felt I needed to share it:

Many people will tell you that someone famous has changed their life.  With me, though, it's totally different.  The one person who has touched and changed my heart is Tish Rayburn.  Mrs. Rayburn passed away a year ago from ovarian cancer at the age of 39.  She left behind a loving husband, two sons and an impacted world.  My world will never be the same without her.

Mrs. Rayburn was a second grade teacher at the school I went to and my mom worked at.  She and my mom were best of friends.  Her sons and my brother were friends too.  Todd, her husband, gives more than he has to to the world.

Even with all of the chemotherapy and IV's she had, she still was perky, talkative and amazing!  She was my hero in her own special way.  She is, was and will always be my role model, inspiration and support even if she's not around to be them.  She was always smiling and making other people happy.  She had you laughing from hello.

Everyone was shocked when she was told she had cancer.  But she didn't let us down.  She had a website that helped us stay in touch and up to date on our loving friend and her life.  Slowly, people noticed a difference in her entries.  Their frequency decreased and became shorter when she did write. But each continued to include sarcasm and mischief.  They were both exciting and saddening to read.

Mrs. Rayburn may not have impacted YOUR life, but she sure saved mine!  She was like a second mother to me.  She has and continues to change my life.

She taught me to live today for today because tomorrow just may not come after all.

Todd,  you are in our thoughts and prayers.  Thank you for keeping us updated through CaringBridge about how you and the boys are doing.  I know we all wonder how things are going, and we hope and pray that things are going well.  This past year will hopefully be the hardest thing you ever have to survive.  I am sure that Tish would be proud of you and the boys.  Stay strong and drive on.

Hi Todd, Tucker, and Tanner!

We just wanted to let you know that you all and the entire Rayburn/Medley family have been on our minds today, and in our thoughts and prayers.  Today has held such bittersweet moments.  Thoughts of Tisha and your amazing family have never been far from our minds.  I even found myself going back and reading her Journal entries from over a year ago.  Her words continue to inspire, uplift, and heal the hearts that are missing her!  We are indeed blessed to have had her in our lives.

Thank you for continuing to share information about how the Rayburn boys are getting along.  Tisha must be looking down on you all with feelings of great pride because you all are continuing to "Drive On!"

Sending lots of love your way,

Hello from Nurse Nan,I  can't tell you how often you all come to my thoughts. There isn't a day that goes by at school that I pass Tish's old classroom and smile.I know her light is shining over her students as they pass from grade to grade. They have a piece in their hearts that she gave to them and will be forever.

My thoughts and prayers are with Tish's "men" today. And her very much loved family.

Todd, Tucker, Tanner, Cheryl, Fred and Tracie,

We love you all and pray for you all daily.  Today of all days, especially. I wrote recently that I still have a gaping hole in my heart, but I have come to learn to live with an imperfect heart. I guess that's what "Drive On" means to me....moving on despite my weaknesses.  I have a special bracelet that I made in Tish's honor the day after she passed away. I wear it every day and I take her with me everywhere (both physically and spiritually). I miss my friend more than words can ever describe, but I find comfort in the fact that I can still laugh with her and talk to her, because I know she is listening and watching.

On a lighter note, I chuckle to myself EVERY time I do laundry knowing that she is rolling her eyes right along with me at the fact that it has to be done at all. Needless to say the washer and dryer are running right now in Tish's honor! No guarantees on the folding and putting away part....

Fertile Ground

I think of you all everyday and I see Tish's smile just as often. I think it is incredible how she keeps touching lives everyday.  What a special gift!  You three are equally as gifted and I admire the preserverence.  She lives within each of you and it shows.

Drive on!

Todd,

Like many other mornings, I passed you and the boys on the road this morning so needless to say, I was so filled with joy when I read this this morning. Our family thinks of you all often and we find ourselves laughing at some of the antics Tish would do. Please know we are here for you and like Tish would want, we are continuing to Drive On. :)
