My Story

Max had just turned 2 in July 07, when he was diagnosed with cancer (Wilms tumor) of the left kidney, which had spread to the lungs.

He underwent several sessions of chemotherapy, before having surgery to remove his kidney.  He then had to endure a year of intense chemotherapy.

He is now making good progress, and 'in the clear'.

Monday 29th June,
Hi all, thought it about time to let you know how things are going!   Max put us through a bit of a scare last Friday, but thank goodness - he is OK.

He had been a little off colour for a couple of days (nothing dramatic), and when Nicky got him out of the bath on Friday there was a small hard lump sticking out from he right groin.  It open up a whole host of emotions in both Nicky and myself that we had started to forget about.  So enued a dramatic dash to accident and emergency through torrential rain.  The hospital was exceptionally busy, and we had several hours to wait before he was to be seen.  Max had a great time, playing with all the other casualties while we sat and worried.  Anyway, long story short, we got home in the early hours of Saturday morning with a diagnosis of viral infection of the tonsils, and a swollen lymph node in the groin.  Nothing to worry about!!!

So, things now back to normal, and preparations underway for Max's 4th birthday next Tuesday.  He is getting very excited, and has already chosen his birthday cake!  We are all looking forward to a bit of distraction before we head back in for next round of scans mid-July.  Can you believe that that will take us to nine months off treatment - time flies.

Love to all,

Dave, Nicky and Mighty (but slightly hoarse) Max.  xxxxx
