Praise the Lord !

Chase went to his pain managment doctor today at the VA and they tried a procedure and it actually worked!

The procedure entailed an epidural which administers pain medication etc. Chase said he sat for about 4 hours at the doctors office and had no pain. They said they would see him on Dec. 4 for the procedure again and then to make it permanent. He also talked to his doctor about the DREZ procedure that his insurance turned down and the doc's oppinion was that there are so many more con's than pro's with the DREZ that he was so glad Chase didn't have it. Chase is convinced that maybe it was a good deal after all. We both agreed that a miracle has happened for him. I have always felt his guardian angel has never left his side. That is why after ALL his accidents since he was little were never too serious until his gun battle in Afghanistan. God wants him here for something really special. I am getting goosebumps sitting here typing this and realizing this wonderful miracle. There has been so many time recently that Chase has just wanted to give up. I don't know how on earth he has "kept it together" all this time. I personally have horrible days were I can't understand why this had to happen to him. But he is a strong individual blessed by God to continue being in this world.

Chase said they will do one more trial run and then make the surgical procedure. The pump that administers the medicine is about the size of a hockey puk (don't know how to spell it oh well). This will be put above his hip and then the line that will carry the medicine will go into his spine. They will refill it about every 4 months. He wont have to worry about pills and waiting for the medicine to take affect.

I know that many of you have been praying for Chase. Thank you. This journey for Chase is long from over but now he can see the light for his future without severe pain. If you haven't seen how it is for him when "it" hits you might not understand. Just know that it is so horrific that somedays he can't get out of bed. I am so thankful that Shannon chose to stay in Denver. She has been a lifesaver many, many times for Chase.

Chase and Shannon are coming home for Thanksgiving. We are looking forward to our gathering this year. I hope that all of you who gather this year will look at your family and friends and realize how important they are to you and to let them know it.

Miracle on the Pig Farm,

Liz
