My Story

Done with the November chemo and got through it really well. I think naps are up there with chocolate as my favorite treats. I'm still on the 5 days on chemo(I take it by pill ) and 25 days off. Fatigue is the worse symptom since they upped my anti nausea meds. Work is still going well but I won't mind time off for the holidays. bless you all for your prayers.

Whew! what a few weeks it's been!  I have been experiencing an increase of symptoms and was so worried that the tumor was spreading fast.  My left side is pretty numb which makes walking a bit of a trick. I re-heard the prognosis and fell into a pretty big funk!  I have been terribly tired and missed a few days of work.  Anyway they got me in for a MRI this week and don't see clear evidence of new growth.  There is swelling which may be taken care of by the steroids (along with my ability to fit in my jeans!) I also realized that I can't go on working full time and try to fight this.  I got great news that I have enough sick time they will let me take a medical leave of absence one day a week next year so I won't lose my benefits or any salary.  Good thing I almost was never sick for the first 20 years of my career!  So I am feeling a huge sigh of relief.  I also feel so lucky to have gotten this experience.  It helps me so much to empathise with the kids I work with who just don't feel their bodies work.  I have to watch my fingers on the left to be able to touch them to my thumb.  I have renewed hope and am so looking forward to summer .  Only 6 more days of work!
