My son,

You have inspired me to be a better man, a better husband, and a better father. Watching you fight your toughest fight in that bed made me feel more helpless than I have ever felt before. When we lost your brother it was so hard, the grief overtook my life and I made some bad choices, and mistakenly missed out on some of the last months of your life. I wish I could get that time back. I don’t know what I was thinking, nor do I think I will ever forgive myself for that. I watched you cry as I walked out the door and left my family in the dust. I was so selfish, and I can only think that had I been better to you, you might still be here. I don’t know how your mom, Savanah, and I will make it through this. You were our little soldier, and you fought a courageous battle. You are now, and will always be my hero. We ask you to help dry our tears, comfort our souls, and help us show these two coming gifts entrusted to us by the Lord how incredible, unbelievable and amazing their big brother was. We hope you visit us from time to time, and know we are always thinking of and remembering you. I love you Nick.
