Summer Jean & Family are Home! Summer was released form the hospital around noon today and Andrea, Summer, Claire and I were all back in the comfort of our home by 2pm! All looks good and Summer’s numbers are trending well. Praise God!
Corrections Because of a lack of sleep the night before the last post there are a couple of items that need clarification. Ø Summers white blood count actually jumped 46,000 instead of 40,000. 6K is a significant difference considering the normal count is under 10K. Ø Relapse following a bone marrow transplant can occur but the probability is actually only 10 to 20%. Summer should be in the lower percentile of this range and with your prayers we expect her to have no chance of a second relapse. Ø The TV screen in the hospital room is actually closer to 19” than 12”. That didn’t really matter since I stayed at the hospital with Summer on Friday night and Andrea was with her Saturday night. Plus, I fell asleep around halftime anyway. I was awake long enough to notice that the first team, the rookie running backs, and the receivers looked good. I predict a very great season.
Summer’s Lifeguard™ – It works for a port! The one good things about the last couple of weeks is we found that Summer’s Lifeguard™ can work for a port as well as a central line. We always had a central line in the past so we did not realize how helpful it could be for a child with a port. Andrea and her team also recently started providing the device to children with short gut syndrome and it appears to be very helpful with this condition as well. This device is now in compliance with FDA, is patent pending, and has been used in multiple children’s hospitals. I know that it helped Summer in her battle and I pray it does the same for others. Visit http://www.summerslifeguard.com/ to learn more about Summer’s Lifeguard™.
Prayers Please continue.
Thank you, Summer & Claire’s Daddy, Brad
