My Story

We're so grateful for all who walk this journey with us through prayer. We ask you to pray this prayer for us...2 Thessalonians 1:11, 12

"...we constantly pray for you that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith. We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and our Lord Jesus Christ.

By His Grace alone, Steve and Marcia

I began to feel some minor discomfort in my stomach in January. In mid-March I had a couple of nights when it was more severe, so I went to see a doctor. He scheduled an ultrasound, and the results concerned him; it looked like there was a mass on my pancreas, so he scheduled a CT scan to check it more thoroughly. The CT scan was Tuesday (March 27) and confirmed that I definitely had a growth on my pancreas. Two days later I had a biopsy that confirmed that it was malignant.

The tumor is adeno-carcinoma, measures 32ml x 32 ml (@ 1 ¼ inches in diameter) and is located inside the head of the pancreas. The good news is that there is no evidence thus far that it has metastasized and the tumor is in a good position to be removed.

God has already ministered powerfully to our family through this. I have zero fear for myself (though, of course, I’d rather avoid the physical pain ahead!), but an intense, eager anticipation to be with Jesus and enjoy worshipping in his presence. My concerns are for Marcia and our kids. Since my Dad died when he was 60, I know what it’s like to not have a Dad through middle adult years, and I want to be there for my kids. And, of course, I’d love to be a grandfather for my grandkids.
