one Year

I guess time has traveled fast, but at times it has stood still.  Steven has had a new world open up with a different kind of work ethics and wonderful people in his life. Last night he had a couple of friends stop by and they were talking about the fishing trips that they did right before the accident, the summer plans of camping, hunting, and riding the dirt bikes.  His days are filled with therapy and celebrating motor skills that so many of us take for granted.
Steven thought he would be walking by now and back to work, he thought his speech would be clear and he would be using his right arm to wrestle around on the floor with his son.  He has not met those goals yet but he has not given up on them, in the back of his mind he knows those thoughts are not hopes and dreams but more of a reality that is taking longer than he thought.
Steven understands that his life has changed and although it has been difficult to sell his vehicles, move in with his parents, and struggle to  brush his teeth or get dressed he pushes on.  Riding back  from a wedding the other day that he did not want to leave he said "I just want my life back!"  after that moment we helped him out of  the vehicle, he struggled to get up the ramp, he visited with some friends, took his medicine, and went to bed so he could start his day all over again with no self-pity, just the struggle of being 22 years old trying to be normal in a body and mind that wont let him do the things he wants to.
We have been fortunate to have such good people in his life and the blessings continue to flow.  Thank you for sharing the journey with Steven and the Sharp family
