Journal Update:

Turns out the PET scan has been changed to a PET/CT with contrast die and will be at 1:30 on Thursday.  Not only do i get pumped up with radioactive isotopes but now  i get contrast die added to the mix.  Not quite the cocktail i had in mind.  i was feeling pretty good but the last minute change has thrown me a little.  I only have one kidney and all the different med's are a concern (MRI also used contrast die).   I know the prayers from so many are what has kept me as sane (relatively) as I am.  We will be praying for God's peace and clean scans tomorrow-----REALLY, REALLY CLEAN SCANS so i can put this behind me and move on to potty training a head strong toddler.
    God Bless--Stacy

The PET scan is scheduled for Thursday July 22nd at 2:30pm.  We will be talking to my oncologist here in Charlotte tomorrow.  He won't have any of the scans but we just wanted to touch base with him.  We keep having problems getting things going at Duke so future testing may be here.  (I still hadn't heard about the PET appointment by 3:30 today so i called to check.  they said they still were waiting on the insurance company to approve the procedure before they could schedle it.  i decided to, called the insurance company myself.  They said they don't usually speak to the patient so i, not so calmly, explained that i need the scan to find out if my cancer has returned and that my mental health is dwindling fast. I try not to whip out the cancer card but sometimes you have to).  They told me they had already approved it and called Duke over an hour ago.  i called Duke with the approval code and got it scheduled.)  I know it's good to keep myself busy so i don't think about things, but that's not what i had in mind!)

Please focus your prayers on Thursday for good results.  Amazing doctors, great medicine, and an all powerful God have brought me this far.......and I'm faithful He won't stop now.

    God Bless--Stacy

Around 4pm I decided to call my oncologists nurse since i still hadn't heard anything.  Big mistake.  She was able to contact my doctor and said he was in prelim discussions with the second radiologist and they agreed to schedule the PET scan.
I asked if there was anything else and she mentioned the use of radiation.  I said "Do you mean the use of radiation when i was young could be affecting these results of the MRI".  She said, "No, they use radiation to treat the back sometimes"....ie the spine.  I couldn't believe what she just said.  She basically told me i had cancer in my spine and they were going to use radiation.  I hung up the phone, freaked out and emailed my surgeon at Duke (who is leaving to take the directors position of the breast institute at U of Wisconsin....... lucky cheese heads)!  She was very kind and tried to calm me down despite the use of many choice words on my part about the nurse.  I'm hoping it was one time God wasn't listening.  We ended up paging my oncologist to find out what is going on.
A second radiologist read the MRI and cannot make a definitive call on the scan.  She can't say if it is or isn't cancer.  They will proceed with a PET scan at Duke this week (hopefully....things have been moving incredibly slow).  I was wanting to hear that the first radiologist was off his rocker but at least the second one was up in the air.  I'm still trying to hold it together and stay hopeful that the bone marrow changes are a result of much chemo.  The fact that i backed into the garage frame and forgot to pick my son up at camp today means I'm not doing so well in that "sound mental state" category.  Please continue to pray for good results and I'll update when i know when the next test is scheduled for.
