Navidad ya esta aca…los adornos y el esiritu navidenos son la marca de, para mucha gente, la epoca mas linda del ano. A Sofia le fascinaba la Navidad, no solo la imagen del Viejo de Pascua llevando regalos (que por supuesto jugaba un rol importante en toda su fascinación por la Navidad), pero también todo el entorno que se volvia de color rojo, verde, dorado, y blanco con la llegada de la nieve. Decorar la casa, armar el arbol de Navidad, ver videos de Navidad de sus personajes favoritos, y jugar con stickers de Navidad eran unas de sus actividades preferidas en esta epoca. Pero lejos, lo que mas le fascinaba, era pasear en auto y ver, todos los dias, las decoraciones navidena afuera de las casas y pasar en frente del lugar donde vendian arboles de Navidad que quedaba en el semáforo de la esquina de nuestro antiguo departamento.
Es muy triste no estar con ella esta Navidad, pero decidimos mantener nuestro espiritu navideno en la forma que a Sofia le gustaba. Armamos nuestro arbol de Navidad y pusimos adornos navidenos en la casa. Sofia habria estado fascinada de ver los adornos de navidad en la casa, sobretodo el carrusel y los globos de nieve que eran sus adornos favoritos.
Estamos también preparándonos para viajar a Chile a fin de ano y pasar unos dias con nuestras familias y amigos. Sabemos que sera un poco pesado emocionalmente pues, para nosotros, el ultimo paso para considerar a Sofia curada de la leucemia, iba a ser poder viajar con ella a Chile de visita. Esta vez, llevamos eso si su espiritu. Por favor, sepan que no tenemos problemas de hablar de Sofia, es mas, nos fascina recordar todas sus particulares caracteristicas y su forma de ser. Hablar de Sofia y recordarla, de alguna forma, nos ayuda a mantener su memoria mas viva.

Christmas is already here…decorations and spirits are signatures for the happiest season of the year. Sofia loved Christmas, not just the image of Santa bringing presents (which of course played a big role in her fascination with this season), but also the environment that turned around all red, green, gold and white when the expected snowed arrived. Decorations in our house, putting up the Christmas tree, watching Christmas videos of all her favorite characters, and playing with Christmas stickers, were her favorite activities these last two Christmas spent here in Durham. But, by far, her much loved activities, were driving around to see the same Christmas decorations every night and to check out the Christmas tree lot right around the corner of our old apartment.
It is very sad not having her here this Christmas, but we decided to try to keep our spirit during this wonderful season in the way she liked it. We put up our Christmas tree up and some decorations around the house. Sofia would have loved helping out and playing with the snowballs and musical carrousel that were her favorite decorations.
We are also ready to start a trip to Chile to spend some time with our families and friends. We know that it will be emtionally hard since, for us, the very last step for considering Sofia cured, was being able to flight with her to Chile for a visit. We are bringing, though, her spirit along with us. Please be aware about the fact that we feel comfortable talking about Sofia, actually, we love it; talking about Sofia and remembering her, in a way, helps us to keep her memories so much alive.
