Silas’s Story

Site created on June 11, 2009

On May 29, 2009 our 17-month-old grandson, Silas Pennington, was injured in a mower accident. After being life-flighted to St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, emergency surgery was performed. Through miraculous intervention, praise God! Silas's life was spared, however, he did lose his left leg just above the knee. The past two weeks have been a whirlwind of medical treatment, but through it all, God's presence has been most profound, and the prayers of thousands have carried us through. Silas got out of the hospital on Sunday, June 7th, and is now happily at home with his family, but he will be undergoing medical procedures for quite sometime to come. Please join us in this continuing journey, as we travel with Silas down the road of recovery. Thank you so much for visiting us. May God's richest blessings be yours.

With Much Love,
~Grandma Rebecca

Newest Update

Journal entry by Rebecca Knox

It's been a long time since I've shared anything new on Silas's page. He's been having quite a time with the latest prosthetic and is at Drew's right now getting fitted for a new one. I asked Amber to have Patrick take an updated picture of Silas and Drew, if possible, and these two photos just arrived.

The first picture is of Silas and Drew. Drew is in the blue. He is Silas's prosthetist at Children's Mercy in Kansas City. The second photo is of Silas and Corbin. Corbin is in the green and is a newly hired prosthetist who has two prosthetics himself. Silas says that he's very nice and takes his time to listen.

Until next time...
