We have had a busy week, but a wonderful week. Sidney had a routine check up with Dr. Claire last Friday morning, however as soon as I got her up to get ready I could see that her eyes were fixed in a downward position. We quickly got to the hospital and I alerted Mrs. Melissa and Dr. Wes when we entered the clinic. Dr. Claire took a quick look at her and sent us straight to the ER. It felt like a blur from arriving in the ER shortly before 10am, getting a CT scan and in the operating room by 12:15pm. The shunt was clogged again and she was very, very lathargic and not responsive. The operation was a success (the tubing that goes into the ventricle in the brain was repositioned and cleaned out).
Sidney awoke Saturday morning with her eyes "back to normal" and feeling much better. We were able to go home shortly after lunch. THANK YOU to all those that I was able to send a text message to requesting prayer for Sidney just before surgery. I BELIEVE and have FAITH in our Lord that He will completely heal Sidney.
We have learned a lot through her journey and it has been a Long journey, but we feel very BLESSED! We are rich in friendships, love and life! THANK YOU, THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for the prayer and love you have shown Sidney and our family. Thank you for just hanging in there with us and especially with her.
I was so happy that she was invited to the movies not once but twice in the last 2 weeks! She had a great time and it really lifted her spirits. THANKS Jenna, Morgan, Amanda and Haylee for including her and treating her "just like one of the girls". All she wants is to be a "normal" kid again, and to get back to a "normal" life. Thank you to Denise also for inviting her over for a sleepover. She had the best time and enjoyed getting out of our house and seeing some of your neighbors. After the last two weeks (including having her fourth surgery in basically a month), she spoke positively and said "I just have to get up on my feet and walking again and everything will be o.k.".
She went back to the hospital Wednesday and
1) had both of her cast removed,
2) started "thyroid" medicine,
3) had a CT scan that showed the shunt was working perfectly.
We had planned months ago to enjoy a relaxing vacation with family. After the last month, it was definitely in order! After having a successful CT on Wednesday, we left for JAMAICA Thursday! We are having a very relaxing and wonderful time. The ocean is beautiful and the atmosphere couldn't be more relaxing. Go to photos and see some of the fun we are having! "We be jammin"
God Bless, "no worries man" and see you back in the states next Thursday!
