Shawn’s Story

Site created on December 5, 2011

After four excruciating years of diagnostic mystery, I was diagnosed in July 2011 with metastatic carcinoid cancer. Then in November 2011, I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. I am undergoing a new cocktail of medications for the cancer and am on a medication regimen for the heart. I also have a bone disease called avascular necrosis, diabetes, and severe osteoporosis.

This site will allow me to update anyone interested in being updated without me having to make a thousand phone calls after every doctor visit and test.

Journal entry by Sheri Gilley

This morning at just a little past 4:00am Shawn's luck did indeed run out.

He was so happy to have had this past month of meeting up with friends.   He was so very blessed to have so many incredible people in his life.  I know he will live on in all your hearts as he will forever be in mine.

Memorial service Monday, June 21, 2:00 pm at Oak Park Temple.
