Hello Everyone! It's been a long time since we've written and with good reason. Mom has been doing great! She has been working hard with both physical and occupational therapy and getting out when ever she can. :)
With her increased independence she has been trying to do more and more. It's been wonderful for her to be home but iat times she is sad because she is not able to do all the things that she would like to do. Nevertheless we have been so blessed to have mom right where she is...with us.
Today while exploring her sewing room she took a nasty fall and cut her head and broke her leg. She was alone at the time and she was able to get herself to a phone to call a neighbor for help. THANK YOU JUDY!
The calling tree went into action and Tom arrived to take mom to the hospital. Thank you to Dr. Brian Boen who also came over to help and together with Tom were able to get mom in the car who was in excruciating pain.
The X-rays revealed a cracked or broken tibia. She was then referred to an Orthopedic. Mom wouldn't have any other Bone Doctor assess her needs except for the one and only Dr. Mattson from the Orthopedic and Fracture Clinic in Mankato.
Why? Only because he has performed knee surgery 6 other times on four of our family members!! She of course went to the clinic willing to see any one of the doctors but it just so happens that Dr. Mattson was the on call doctor at St. Joesph's Hospital and went directly to the ER. When Tom called earlier this evening he said that she was scheduled for surgery tonight. She will be at the hospital for the next couple of days.
We are so blessed to have such a wonderful TEAM and today was just another example of how well our family works together.
Tom drove from Plymouth to Olivia, then to Mankato and then when Anne arrived in Mankato, he drove back to Plymouth.
Anne will be staying at the same hotel that mom took all three of us kids to when we had our knee surgeries so it's only fitting that she stays there. :) Dad will be arriving as soon to be with mom.
