Happy Sunday to all :) Nick took the kids bowling this morning so that I can get us packed for Florida. We are so excited about our beach vacation. We leave on tuesday morning & will spend one night in New Orleans. We are supposed to check in for our retreat at 2 pm on Wed. I got a few e-mails last week from the organizers of the retreat. One was for the Moms & the other for the Dads. A local spa has donated serviced for the Moms & a local golf course has donated a golf outing for the Dads! Oh my gosh, we are going to be so spoiled :) I heard from TCH on friday regarding Sean's scans. We were anticipating mid November (he is scheduled for every three months) & they called me with a date of 12/4. I was kind of irritated b/c I left the whole month of November open for scans & they pick the one day on my calendar that I am actually booked. I told the girl that it can work if it has to but that I would prefer an earlier date. I subsequently e-mailed Sean's oncologist & told her the scenario & asked if she had an control over scheduling matters. Surprisingly, she e-mailed me yesterday morning & said that she was not satisfied with a date that late & that she would talk to the scheduler, wow! Anyway, hopefully they will move the scans into November where they belong. I told both the oncologist & the scheduler that we are available ANY date in November....talk about flexible ;) That's all for now. We are taking Grandmary out to dinner to celebrate her 60th birthday :) Her birthday is on Wed & we will be in Florida. So Happy, Happy Birthday to Grandmary!!!! Sean picked out the cutest card for her at the store yesterday......it says Happy Birthday to Someone Special with a big sun on the front & when you open it the card sings "You Are My Sunshine".....super cute!!!!! He opened it about 20 times walking through the grocery store yesterday, I was cracking up ;) On another note, we are coming up on the one year reminder for a lot of things these next few weeks. It was Oct 10th when they found Sean's tumor via ultrasound, the 11th when we were basically told that he had cancer & most likely Rhabdo, the 12th was his CT scan, the 15th was the biopsy, the 22nd was the port insertion & the 24th the start of chemo......yikes! It feels like ten lifetimes ago that all of this started. We are so happy that Sean responded so well to his treatment. We are looking forward to his scans to hopefully get the "all clear" again. Unfortunately, there are many Rhabo kids on my e-mail list that are not doing well. It is so unfair to think that these poor children have to endure so much & that sometimes medical treatment fails. Please say an extra prayer for Elizabeth & her family, she is losing her battle with rhabdo. Also, our friend Ricky in Atlanta is facing major surgery (where they will remove his bladder) to combat his rhabo recurrence. And lastly, Diego's family has just found out that he has tumors in a new location. It is such a horrific thing & it just breaks my heart that these families are not getting any breaks! That is all for now. I will update once we get home. I am looking forward to taking lots of beach photos & will update with lots of new photos soon after we return! Have a great week :)
