Sean Karl's Journal
Happy New Year
Written Mar 4, 2014 8:36amDear Family and Friends....hope everyone if off to a great 2014! While Sean is still in treatment, we are thankful that he is able to continue taking classes at UTK and participate on the tennis team (red shirt). This new regime is not nearly as taxing on him physically as the treatment over the last year and he has responded well. Sean was rediagnosed this past November and has been in treatment (chemo and radiation) since then. He will soon begin radiation to the skull where a lesion was found. While Sean is remaining private about his disease and treatment and wants to be as normal as possible at school, we do ask for prayers. His spirits are great, his attitude is positive, he is surrounded by amazing people at UTK....and he has a hefty appetite. Updates will come periodically...Thanks for prayers and love...God is so good!
Written Jul 30, 2013 9:32pmSean was scanned yesterday and we received the results tonight that everything is "stable"...nothing new, nothing growing...which is awesome news....Sean is off to UTK in a couple weeks and we all have huge smiles...and a new outlook on life! Sean will be rescanned in several months, but thanks for walking this journey with us..GOD IS SO GOOD! Love to all and hope everyone is having an incredible summer! Team Karl...signing off! Amen.....

My Mom said that she pictures the entire University of Michigan football stadium lighting up with CB hits...over 110,000 strong...I love that visual. This afternoon we had our fun, high spirited Life Celebration. It was our chance to thank everyone for their Caring Bridge support, meals, gift cards, transportation help, uplifting cards and gifts...humor...and prayers. The Village has rose to the occasion and I believe that The Lord is pleased with the journey we all took together. So, why did The Lord leave the small 8 cm "blob" on Sean's rib when he could easily take it away? I believe that it goes back to 2 Corinthians when Paul had to beg the Lord three times to take the thorn away. Each time the Lord replied, "My gracious favor is all you need. My power works best in your weakness." The "blob" will keep us relying on God and keep us dependent on him and not get "lazy" with our spirituality. In 6 weeks, Sean will get rescanned, so we pray for your ongoing prayers...we have been blessed with your prayers and presence in our lives...thank you and a big fat bear hug to you all! Talk to you in 6 weeks...Love, Laurie (Mama Bear) and Team Karl
This is Sean now. Just wanted to thank everybody for all the support over the past 9 months or so. It made this whole process a lot easier for me and the family and helped me stay positive when it was hard to. Thanks y'all and this is Sean signing out for the last time.
GOD IS GOOD, GOD IS GREAT!
