A Nonprofit Connecting Family and Friends When Health Matters Most

My Story

Welcome to my web-site.  My name is Scottie Martin, and I was born on May 11, 2005.  I was born with Lissencephaly, a vary rare brain malformation characterized by the absence of normal convolutions (folds) and ridges on the brain surface. Lissencephaly is commonly known as "smooth brain."

Journal Update:

Hello Family and Friends, we are delighted to say that Scottie has recently received his new wheelchair!  He looks absolutely adorable in it, but most importantly, it is a great seating system.

Recently, we've had a couple follow up appointments; one with GI and the other with Neurology.  Scottie has grown over two inches in the past 6 months (he's 47 inches long!!), BUT he's lost a little bit of weight.  So, we are going to add a supplement to his Pediasure to add more caloric value.

Scottie's seizures come and go, with some days and weeks more intense than others.  We've kept all meds the same for now.  We know that he will never be seizure free, but we try our best to control them.  There is nothing more heartbreaking than to see your child seizing, especially when (as a parent) there is nothing we can do except help him recover safely.

Overall, he is doing well, and attending summer school at Garfield's Special Education Center.  The teachers are great, and they really LOVE my handsome little guy.

Hope everyone is doing well.  God bless, and continue to keep our precious son in your prayers.
