Sarah’s Story

Thank you for visiting Sarah's Caring Bridge site which was started to keep our New Hope friends and family updated regarding Sarah's status.  Sarah was in a significant car accident this morning - Wednesday October 16th.  She suffered injuries to her brain, chest, lungs, spleen, and liver.  She has been flown up to Portland where she is being cared for at OHSU.  Our main intention for this sight besides updates is to encourage prayer and support for Sarah, her family, and her friends - which are many as she is a delight to all who know her.  We serve a mighty God and know that Sarah is His much beloved child whom He will work all good things for.

Day 58

Please be in prayer for Sarah - now more psychologically than physically even. Instead of seeing the immense strides she has made, she is frustrated by how little she can do compared to how she used to be. Let's put this before our heavenly Father and not let the enemy get a foothold!

From Kim - Thursday, Dec 12. Every day Sarah improves from the day before. Today she did a 6 minute timed walk and her speed was less than average for her age but very respectable. Her math computations are still a challenge but they are also improving. At one point today we had the gym to ourselves with one of the therapists who then felt free to tell us that Sarah's recovery has been the fastest they've seen in a long time. I know that is due to God's faithfulness in answering your prayers. Believe it or not Sarah is frustrated with herself over what she still can't do. Prayer for perspective and attitude would be much appreciated.

Sarah, today I hope you awake with a renewed sense of hope. I can't imagine how difficult this must be for you but when my heart hurts for how you must be feeling, God reminds me that nothing is outside of His understanding and that He truly does work ALLLLLL things for our/your good and I pray that this is a refreshing reminder for you today. I wanted to share a couple of verses that have helped me much, through the last few years and I hope you also find comfort in them.
Psalm 34:17-19 When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers (her) out of them all.
You're doing great Sarah!!.....keep on going girly and know that GOD IS WITH YOU AND HE WILL BRING YOU THROUGH THIS....DAY BY DAY :)

Dear Sarah,
This whole experience has been tough for you and your family. You have been doing a great job. We are so thankful to the Lord for the progress you have made and are going to make. Much of the improvement too has been because of your tremendous efforts. We are proud of you and know this season like all others will pass. I pray the Lord will give you peace in the process. Just take each day for itself as the Scripture reminds us. Tomorrow will take care of itself. Hugs and continued prayer for you. Hang in there. We are rooting for you.

Sarah..it is normal to feel that way..you are walking a whole new path these days. We all understand your frustration, but trust me, we on the sidelines are watching a huge miracle unfold everyday. Yes, you will have these frustrating times as your body and mind adjust. Joni Erickdon Tada wrote about how frustrated she was..and we all know what a long and purposeful outcome her life has been. You are bring supported and embraced by a huge prayer team before our Father. God Bless and reassure you this day!
