Sandra Bishnoi's Journal
Written Feb 2, 2011 9:31amThe bone biopsy is complete. I must say that I really hope that I never have to do that again. I think giving birth to Anya without anesthesia was easier than that! Luckily recovery is going quickly and I should be back to normal by tomorrow. I have to thank Jody for dinner, though. It was really a lifesaver! We'll have the results on Thursday, so here's hoping for an old running injury.
Written Jan 28, 2011 2:07pmWell, we met with Dr. Law (oncologist) yesterday. Unfortunately, the MRI wasn't terribly helpful. We still don't know if the cancer has spread to my pelvis or not. So, the only way to get a definitive answer is to done a bone biopsy. This will tell us whether the abnormality that is showing up on the MRI and PET scans are just an old running injury or cancer. Sort of makes me wish I had been more of a couch potato!
The bone biopsy is scheduled for Tuesday at 10am. Not the best way to be spending my son's 4th birthday, but what can you do? Good thing the birthday party isn't until Friday! Also, this is a great time for Sanjay's mom to be coming into town. It will be nice for the kids to have another caretaker in the evenings.
For my praying friends, say a prayer for us that the scans are just being overly sensitive to old injuries and that there isn't any new malignancy!
Also, thanks for all of the kind notes and emails. It really does make a difference to know that we are not alone in this mess. We are blessed to live in such a generous community and to have such great friends and family both near and far.
Written Jan 26, 2011 9:22pmFirst round of chemo - check.
It really wasn't as bad as I expected. Two syringefuls of Adriamycin and 20 minutes of Cytoxan. Overall, it took about 1 1/2 hrs. The anti-nausea meds actually seemed to have more of a reaction that the chemo itself. I feel a little more tired than usual but that could be psychological as well. Only experienced a small bit of nausea, which is great. We'll see how it goes.
One of our great friends dropped off chicken soup, bread, and cake. How much better can it get?
