Hanging in There...

"For he has not despised or disdained the suffering of the afflicted one; he has not hidden his face from him but has listened to his cry for help." (Psalm 22:24 NIV)

This week's emotion we are studying is "abandonment," and Psalm 22 is our focus.  I love this verse, because so very often just after Sam's accident and even now, I wonder if God hears my cries for help.  I am a testimony that God never leaves us nor forsakes us - even in the darkest hours of our lives.  He hears our cries and He holds us in the palm of His hand.  I am so thankful for that, because without Him I couldn't make it through the difficult days.  When trouble arises, we can be sure that He is there, holding us and walking through our storms with us.  Praise God!

Sam continues to do well in therapy.  He is so much more active, but he is also a lot tighter.  I think it is because he is trying so hard to move!  He is becoming a real pro at rolling and he is moving a lot like he was before he started his suit therapy last August.  He continues to tolerate the gait trainer better - he stood in the Pony for 15 minutes again on Monday and even helped to move it!  He walked for about 12 minutes on the treadmill on Monday and 11 minutes today.  He was VERY tight today and fussed a good bit while on the treadmill.  However, he LOVED splash time - he got to play on a waterslide at Neurotherapy and he loved every minute of it!  The therapist made him "climb" up and he used his legs to push some of the time!

Tomorrow morning, Sam and Danny will be filming a spot for the "Sunday Journal."  I'm not sure if it will run this Sunday or the next, but I'll keep you posted.  It is a spot for the Children's Miracle Network - to promote the Miracle Mansion and the upcoming telethon.  After that, we are hopefully meeting with a company about ordering some medical equipment for Sam - a high chair and a bath chair.  Pray that we make headway on acquiring those things for Sam.

I have some new pictures and videos posted on Dropshots (click "Resources" above) from the past couple of weeks!  You can see how much he is moving and also see how happy he has been. Praise God!  Please continue to pray for steady improvements in Sam - pray for improved control over his arms and legs, for his ability to sit and stand, and for his RESTORATION.  Thank you all for praying - God hears!  We love you!
