Welcome to our CaringBridge site. It has been created to keep friends and family updated about Sage.

Sage was diagnosed with Wilms Tumor Stage III favorable histology in Jan. 2006. The histology was later changed to unfavorable, when diffuse anaplasia was discovered after the tumor and her right kidney were removed in April.

Wow! This update is long overdue!

Sage continues to do well. She had scans at the end of June and they came out all clear - thanks to our great Lord and Savior. Thanks also to all of those who continue to pray for her health!

We have been busier than usual... if that's possible. On July 20th, we left the midwest behind and moved to Tucson. We're in temporary housing until we find our own place, but we're comfortable for now.

The kids start school on Monday. Timone goes to 7th grade, Mackenzie goes to 5th, and Sam goes for another year of preschool. Sage had a little difficulty with kindergarten so she will do it over again, just to make sure she has a good foundation for 1st grade. At first she was upset about it, but we explained that it was for "practice" and that it was like preschool for her because she wasn't able to go while she was in treatment.

Gene started his new job, so he's learning all the new details and trying to get settled in there. Meanwhile, I am cleaning and doing load after load of laundry in the very small washer and dryer... not that I'm complaining. It could be worse : )

We've only been down here for a little over a week, so we're still getting acclimated. It's a little hotter here than Ohio, but not unbearable. It's a little humid, but not like Ohio. We arrived during monsoon season, so there is a short downpour almost every day. The storms are loud and there's a lot of lightning, but they don't last long. There are mountains all around, and there are actually a lot more trees, bushes, and other green plants than we expected. We can definitely get used to it.

The kids have been playing outside a lot. There is a covered playground here and they are always out there making friends and chasing lizards. They are determined to catch a gecko, but they aren't quite fast enough for the little guys. Anyway, it sure keeps them busy!

We would just like to say that we miss everybody back home already and we want to thank everyone for making time to see us before we left. Thank you to everyone who took the kids out on special outings, as it really meant a lot to them. Also, thank you to everyone for the gifts, snacks, movies, meals, etc. you provided for the trip. Thank you especially for all of the prayers you sent up on our behalf.
