My Story

Hello! My name is Rylee Dawn and I am 2 years old. In July of 2007, just 2 weeks before my 1st birthday, I was diagnosed with AML leukemia. I spent July-December at St. Jude's where I heroically fought this dreadful illness. I am BLESSED to be in remission and back at home with my family.

Please sign my guestbook, we LOVE hearing from you!

Unfortunately I wrote a great update that did not save properly and just disappeared.  Grrr...I'm mad at myself because I know I should write it in word and copy and paste it.  It is really too late for me to write all of that again so this one will be short.

We are enjoying our summer very much despite a lot of rain.  We swim when we can and Rylee is getting better at just being in floaties.  Practice makes perfect right?  We had a blast at the DSGO JumpMania fundraiser for the buddy walk and I'm sure we'll do that again soon.  We went to Dream Night at the Zoo last night which was incredible.  Once a year the zoo has a special night just for kids with special needs.  They go above and beyond to make the night a magical one.  It is free of charge and there are a lot of special extras for the kids.  Rylee rode the train and loved interacting with the animals.  She fed anything and everything that would eat from her hand with absolutely no fear.  My mom said it was a perfect evening and I have to agree.

We have a lot to look forward to this summer.  The buddy walk is in a couple of weeks, both Carter and Rylee's birthdays are in July, Rylee's Grandma Ruth has an awesome 4th of July party, and we are going on vacation with my family.  We are going to see the Wiggles in KC.  Rylee loves the Wiggles and they really got her through some long days at St. Jude's.  We were supposed to go on this trip 2 years ago, but we found out Rylee was sick 3 days before we were supposed to leave so it's long overdue.  We will also be going to Oceans of Fun and the KC zoo and lots of other kid friendly places while in KC.  Then Rylee starts school in August.  My main reason for updating tonight is to say I POSTED NEW PICTURES IN THE PHOTO SECTION of some of these adventures.  Be sure to check them out.

I do have a prayer request for all of you.  A very special little girl, a friend of Rylee's from the DSGO, had a bone marrow biopsy and is waiting for the results.  PLEASE pray for good news for her and her wonderful family!  As always please keep my sweet little Rylee Roo in your prayers as well.  We do apreciate it more than you know.

We hope everyone is having a safe and fun summer!

Carey
